First goal, first point. That strike at the end there... Almost.

I predict a rough first season for the Impact. I'm still concerned about their attack, it's sloppy at best, very disoriented and there's clearly a lack of communication. Hopefully they get better in this regard. I know they're aware that this is their weakness, which is why they brought Corradi on a 3-month contract.

The important thing for this team is to gradually improve and that's why I believe today's game was a step in the right direction.

First pt for the Impact this afternoon.

BTW-Attendance was 58,942, a record for an Impact game.

I am. What an atmosphere! If somebody told me that was in South America, I would believe it, it's noisy as hell.

It was still 1-1 when I had to leave. How'd the game turn out?

Killer atmosphere, btw.

Never mind; didn't check the last page. Draw?

The Sounders seem to attract the largest crowds in the MLS by far. They average 38K per game and hit 68K last year I think, while the other teams are around 15K-20K. I didn't know soccer was such a big thing in Seattle.

My friend saw the Sounders in Vancouver last year. She said their fans were crazy, and apparently they travel very well.

The whole Pacific NW seems pretty soccer crazy. Their stadium is not as big but the fans in Portland are crazy too.

This is just awesome.

This was their home opener last year. It blows my mind to see this in the US, its like something out of Europe or South America.

It goes back to the old NASL days. Portland also seems to have more of a "hipster" culture than both Vancouver and even Seattle. You can also look up Portland and wierd...

Unfortunately, for some teams in MLS, the attendance is a lot, lot worse than 15K.

Here is some footage of last night's game between Chivas USA and the Vancouver Whitecaps. Absolutely brutal. There cannot be more than 650 or 750 people there:

Was watching some of that, pretty brutal crowd. Wasnt aware they shared the same stadium as the Galaxy. Why do they have two teams when support is this bad?

Actually, Chivas averaged 15,000 last season.

That's highly doubtful. Home Depot Centre holds 27,000. Look at the following video from last year. As you can see, the upper deck is completely empty and the lower deck is at best 35% full (and that's being generous). After looking at a few more videos of Chivas USA games, the figure of 15,000 begins to look a little like a pipe dream:
