Olympic/Hill, while certainly a "blah" project, has single-handedly created a nice little street wall on that block. The good news is that the other two TCA-designed projects slated for that block on Olympic probably won't be as offensive looking -- less stucco and more glass, metal, stone, and wood.
8th and Grand might also be a pleasant surprise given the steel frame construction. Fingers crossed!

These 7-story projects are certainly shitty for DTLA. That being said, it is so weird to walk down streets I've walked down for years and suddenly have an entire view obstructed because a new structure. 8th & Grand, Olympic & Hill, Ava, etc all do this.
My hope with the 7-story developments is their retail spaces are cheap enough to bring cheap reliable eats (like Panera & Chic-Fil-A) into DTLA.
