Amazon's future view from 5 Manhattan West in Midtown. Landlord, Brookfield Properties is reaping the rewards from a top-to-bottom $350M renovation of the 16-floor building shaped by REX Architecture. The 1.7 MSF structure, once nicknamed "the elephant's foot" and "the anvil," has been softened by a sawtoothed glass facade and an outdoor "breezeway" with views of the #HighLine . Amazon is slated to bring 2,000 high-paying sales, finance, marketing and IT jobs to the building with a 360,000-SF lease on the 6th and 7th floors. Whole Foods, which is owned by Amazon, will open a 60,000-SF ground floor market.

Does anyone have an update on Tower 2? Curious if the planned 1,200 feet is still a go should an anchor tenant be found.

The 1200 ft was dropped when they decided to carve out a tower for 3 MW, the tower in the forefront of that last pic.

So from the renderings, 1 and 2 will be 995 twins?

Just looks that way from certain angles, but yes, 2 is the shorter tower...

I'm disappointed they switched from the original 1,200 ft tower proposals, but it will still be a pretty iconic complex once it's completed.

They still have additional air rights that were once considered for the 5 MW site so I wonder if, long term, they build on top or demolish/replace. Or maybe they just sell the air rights to an adjacent site, considering basically all the blocks to the north and south are long-term development plays.

^ During the plaza approval process,
it was determined that no additional air rights would be distributed on site.

I was originally against conversion of some space into a residential tower, but it makes sense with everything else going on in the area.

As a comparison to the above pic, 3MW is 702 ft (background). Core is getting there if not very close.
