There doesn't really seem to be a whole lot going on with the store though, but I only drive by it at night. They've started to do exterior work on the main entrance, but it was still barren inside as of a few weeks ago. I have a hard time believing that they're putting $10 million into each store at this point if they're opening in the next few months.
should be opening march or april - they have their spring openings listed as march/april 2013

Nice to see some pretty extensive renovation going on at the Carlyle retail podium.
I'm not sure what luxury brand is going to want to be beside the Dollar Store though.

Wow - haven't been past there in ages. That intersection will look completely different soon.
If they really wanted to modernize, they'd replace the barrel vault with a rectangular structure.

Dollar Store is in the basement.. any other retail will be on 'top' of it.. I'm sure that will be fine.

Agreed, but the Dollar Store does have a somewhat prominent ground level entrance on Thurlow. I just think it was a bad leasing decision considering the nature of what they are trying to create in that area, although perhaps it was hard to find anyone else willing to take the basement space.

Hoarding up on the Bench store in PC. No sign of whether or not it's a closure or a renovation.

The South Surrey location is not a surprise, as it's kinda isolated from everything and there's a Future Shop that is right next to Walmart.

The Queensborough location is a surprise just because it's in the middle of a very busy outlet store mall. I wonder what will take over the spot.

They had a "moving" sale - not sure where to.

++++++++

WRT Best Buy - there's a sign up in PC next to David's Tea (@ Dunsmuir) for "Best Buy Mobile".

There's a tiny space between Sephora and La Senza that is also boarded up. I can't even remember what was there. An accessories store?

Speaking of La Senza, it badly needs a reno, which makes me wonder if it will even stay in the mall once VS opens on Robson.

I still can't believe Best Buy just opened up that store at 26 SW Marine. Every time I've been in there its been dead. Without a grocery store component that whole complex is going to struggle.

I'm somewhat surprised that they didn't close the Future Shop right beside the Best Buy in Coquitlam. Then again, they both always seem to have a few people in them..

Asia Imports in 100 block West Hastings (just west of Woodwards building) is closing "after 35 years" according to sign out front. Another sign of change in this block.

Building was sold last June:
"Steve Fame and Casey Weeks of Colliers International have sold the Asia Imports Building at 151 West Hastings Street for $6,500,000 to Century Group.

The building, formerly known as the Ormidale Block, is a 4-storey office building half a block East of Victory Square and directly across from the Woodward’s building."
