Bedhead-- there has recently been an increasing awareness of mid-century architecture in St. Louis thanks to groups like http://modern-stl.com. That particular building was originally a Neba Roast Beef restaurant-- a fast food chain from the mid-1960s. Surprisingly, a handful of nearly identical buildings are still around across the country: http://www.agilitynut.com/eateries/neba.html
This building is located in the quickly-revitalizing Grand Center arts district in Midtown St. Louis, so eventually there might be demand for higher density development. For now, though, it's a Chinese restaurant and seems to be hanging on just fine. It would make a funky art gallery, that's for sure.

I feel like Grand Center should target existing vacant lots for development before setting their sights on businesses that are actually in operation.

I think this building could easily be moved intact to a safer parcel of land. Either that or it could just fly away.

That's my only problem with that building - the way it's situated. If it could be moved a little bit east or west, it would free up land for development. It has way more parking than it needs.
