This is, by far, my favourite 21st century building in Toronto.

Yes, it's turning out as good, or even a little better than I expected.

The view east from Union Station needed a big dramatic building with a wow factor. Looks like we're getting one. Two thumbs up!

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps a little bit too ornate for Toronto's tastes, but it would fit this stretch of street. The big one, not the little:

Now that's a lamp post that makes a statement. Welcome to Toronto Union Station arrivers!

^ What project is the crane for in the foreground of the first pic?

That would be 'The Berczy' - 13 stories.

I had long thought similar regarding that view. It will also add some wow factor looking west towards the downtown core from the DVP and GO train.

Looking at the first pic, I am thinking the city will cap future talls (at least in the downtown core) to a height below the CN Tower observation deck (SkyPod?), or just slightly taller than First Canadian Place.

Vibrant cities seem to build new focal points/tallest buildings ever so often. In the next 30-40 years, I'd rather Toronto built a new tallest or at least a few counter balances to the CN Tower in the 450-550m range.... As long as they're not too close to the CN Tower (like you mentioned). That would look awkward.
