Pan Am Sibling

York Lions Stadium is slated to undergo a transformation.

York University stadium built for Pan Am Games to undergo renovation
(Toronto Star, Mar 14 2019)

The stadium at York University’s Keele Campus — which was home to 2015 Pan American Games events — will be getting a makeover.

The North York stadium, which was built for the 2015 games, will be renovated into a multi-use facility with artificial turf and an inflatable seasonal dome to support year-round activities and events, the university said in a news release.

I believe this is being done in congunction with York 9 of the CPL who will be using the York U stadium(along with its varsity teams) for the first couple of years of their existence in the CPL.

Yes temporarily. They have plans to build their own stadium in the future.

From the article:

“We’re looking to build a 12-15,000 seat stadium that will truly bring the best experience to our fans. In the meantime, we have a great accessible option at York University that’s close to transit. The future is bright for York 9 as we move towards our own soccer specific stadium.”

Theyre actually playing at Yorks old stadium for the first half of the season “Alumni Field” while the pan am stadium is reconfigured.

Oh hmmm, okay. Maybe I'd have heard about it if I actually followed the team somewhat.

Looks good. Interesting in the Spec I read they could have built a 6000 seat temp grandstand in the South Endzone but decided with a 3500 capacity party area. I guess the profits would be about the same after taking into account the huge cost to construct a 6000 seat temp endzone structure.

Wow, I kinda like the looks of this. Good way to make use of the irregular-shaped south side.

No one is bundled up, but are wearing shorts and t-shirts in the pictures. Let's hope they're right.

This is a fantastic idea. The food is sure to be $$$ but getting the party started on site early in the day should ensure wallets are un-stiffened by a few pints.

Love the stage that will stay for the duration of Grey Cup Sunday. It will be harder to see the bands for those still seated, but I'm sure the screens will be ample enough to give a view (especially on the big one).

I wonder if the capacity for that plaza area is the max or a min... if it proves popular the total attendance may be higher. I could also see the team selling special tickets to the other communal areas under the east stands if demand is there.

Haven't found anything out yet, but the Leafs are holding a practice on Saturday afternoon/night. I'm hoping it's open to public via tickets or something. If anyone finds any information in the next few days, please post here and I will do the same if I come across anything.

New plans for THF's Grey Cup configuration were released. There are more close-up renderings on the website.

I wonder if the south end-zone changes will become permanent.
