Yeah this project has been moving at near record speeds, they only started pouring in December! I'd say it could be topped out by the summer

wow quite the progress.

Are the houses in that area just hold outs who don't want to sell or they are on land no one has plans for yet and not been sold?

The small fourplex immediately behind/adjacent to the SFU construction site appears to be on sale on MLS, asking 4.8 million.

It's a prime development site. Designated Mixed-Use 5.5 FAR.

Will likely consolidate with the lots around it. That portion of 103 Ave it is on will be closing.

Update (March 31):

Full footprint of the building now in place. Working on the first level above ground on the north part of the site.

Fastest moving project I have ever seen in Canada. I think it will top out in August/September. What's the reason for this?

This developer wisely understands that (a shorter building) time is money (saved)!

If all projects in Surrey Central area can go up as fast as this, we will be seeing an entirely different area in the next 3 years or so.

It probably helps this project is government mandated and that may have helped cut red-tape.

There is a sign on the fence facing University Drive quoting that it will be completed fall 2018. It does seem like it will be completed by then.

Site clearing, excavation, and parking virtually complete in 6 months. I think they may be complete summer 2018, unless the project slows down substantially.

The planning documents mentioned a required completion date of April 2018 (IIRC) in order to meet the conditions for the federal funding that allowed this project to proceed in the first place. So it moved through the bureaucracy exceptionally fast.

If I recall, the original plan showed the body of the buildings only on the part of the property which was originally the parking lot at the corner of University Drive and 102A Ave. The footprint now evident seems to extend the building all the way west to the lot which had the little house on it until recently. I thought the plan was to build a student res on the property where the house stood? Did something change??

^ The residence is to go in within the left over space created by the 'L' shape of the building. Look at the plans I posted previously.

A week later:

Not much change, but I would say the whole first floor will be up by the end of April.
