Around the corner on Beverly in or around 1932:
7161 Piggly Wiggly;
8100 Von's Grocery (1936) now a mini mall;
8108 Piggly Wiggly; and
8110 an A&P! Both 8108 and 8110 may now be occupied by a Linen Store (below).

That's the Public Storage building at Beverly near Virgil. One of my favorite buildings in town, it seems much, much higher than its 14 stories. It was originally the American Storage Company.

If I'm reading the chart correctly GW, the one stop was Chicago Midway. I would have guessed a location further west....say Kansas City.
But then again, I don't know the fuel capacity of the airplane (and of course passengers were probably picked up in Chicago)

American and United were flying DC6s on the transcon routes--TWA would get its bigger Super Constellations online by the end of '52, and then AA & UA responded with the DC7 a year or so later. The Super Con & DC7 were finally able to sustain transcon nonstops--only westbound at first, then both ways after improvements to engines and some wrangling with the government over crew hours. Jets came with AA's 707s in January 1959.
