Looks like Memphis is off to a pretty bad start.

Montreal (2mill) has yet to record a homicide this year.

I think Seattle has more than four. I can think of the triple-murder at the homeless camp, the double-murder at the apartment building in Belltown, the murder at the convenience store south of downtown, and maybe a couple more.

As of 3/14/16: Philadelphia 52

2015 - 50
2014 - 52
2013 - 41

*2013 ended with 246, the lowest in 50*+ years.

-Rough week in the "City of Brotherly Love". 11 Murders for the week. Had 6 in one day in 5 different neighborhoods. Something about the warm weather that brings out some lunacy in people.

Americans should be embarrassed I think. Big, Diverse, Exiting,
& Cosmopolitan Montréal. (Which would be a major City in most
countries the world over). Has 0 Murder's yet many smaller American Cities
have plenty already. Montréal > USA

Anyway Calgary where I live is at 4.

Why? Unless they are personally doing the murdering, that would be silly. I doubt many here are fans of the concept of collective guilt.

Anyway, El Salvador's situation continues to be rather grim. The government pledged to "take action" following a massacre of 11 people (mainly day-laborers) near a small town called San Juan Opico, but has been crippled by endless corruption and incompetence.

Among other recent scandals, numerous videos emerged of strippers performing at a prison in the town of Izalco which houses gang-members and murder suspects, followed by videos of politicians meeting surreptitiously with gang leaders inside of another prison, for some unknown purpose.

There are often daily mass-murders of 3 to 5 individuals at once. The state is so thoroughly inept and penetrated by gang-money and agents that effective action seems almost impossible inside the legal frameworks of a "normal" country. Which is why there seem to be increasing rumors of a more drastic military "solution".

True. That would be like saying all Canadians should hang their heads in shame because some hunters club baby harp seals to death.

Chicago is at 126 murders two and a half months into the year...that is 50 a month...and the months are in winter. This is not boding well at all.

Columbus is at 18 currently, which is not exactly a great number either.

After getting off to a bad start to begin the year, I think there's only been one murder in KC in the past 2-3 weeks. They were at 14 a month ago, then there were a few murders shortly after that, but now they've been at 18 for quite a while.

Hope I don't jinx it!

This isn't exactly related to murder rates, but an interesting site I ran across about 2015 open murder cases in Washington DC:

http://mpdc.dc.gov/page/major-caseun...homicides-2015

Puts faces on the victims......not just numbers.
