^ Yeah, exactly. I was kind of bummed about the revised massing on the west too, until I remembered that there will be other buildings there. Now I'm all for it - more of a streetwall with fewer gaps, sacrificing the one building's starpower for the sake of the whole.

I would have to disagree. At the very least, I think that it's important to wait until the crown is complete. I agree that the buildings on the wall complement each other and I'll reserve final verdict until all the evidence is in.

I really like the way it has turned out so far. I think the skinnier massing towards the top made it more awkward for me in older renders.

whah? bloky vs elegant.... the lakeshore side lost all its elegance...... still an impressive tower, but lacking......much more fat and obtrusive on the lakeshore side than what they showed originally...... its not OZ any more.

You guys do realize that the upper section WILL get narrower when the bridges connecting the hoist to the tower are removed...? That's a temporary structure running up the west side from the setback.

^^ Agreed. Plus the POV of BVic's shot is from a perspective more to the East than the perspective of the rendering*, which makes, from the photo, the lakeshore side of the building seem wider.

I suspect a shot taken from the same compass orientation as the render would make the building look equally svelte.

(*This is most evident in the apparent angle/orientation of the vertical "knife's edge" of the tallest part of the building: BVic's points right; the render points left.)

The angle of the render and the comparison pic is different, so I think the comparison is a little unfair. If the angle was the same, it looks like the massing would be the exact same, no?

Also, I think the facade and cladding turned out much better than the render depicts. Bigtime bonus

IMO, this building has vastly outperformed its rendering so far. I am extremely curious to see how the crown is finished and also I think this building has the potential to look spectacular at night. That would be another added bonus not shown in the renderings.

The glass definitely looks better in reality than it does in the render.
And the element that looks much better than the render is the NE projection. The render gives the horizontal banding equal strength, giving a checkerboard appearance.

The final product is much better, with the vertical lines only being prominent.

I saw it today (through the crappy weather) and it the crown framing is REALLY becoming evident now. Its possible that it might even be topped out

The difference between the rending and the actual building is the very noticeable lack of all the balconies on the East wall. They did not go as high with them as the rending shows. I suspect they stopped the balconies at the 34/35 floors and in the rending they show them as high as 45.

From the looks of that it just may be TO. There are no more stubs sticking up on the tallest part to receive the end of any new beams.
