I'm excited to see what they do with the facade on the first three levels. I have to say I am very pleased with the fact that rather than simple build 22 stories straight from the ground that they took into account the neighboring properties and build the first three floors to match the height of those neighbors and then angled the rest. Very good design plan in my opinion.

Curious... I have seen facades go up rather quickly. This one seems to be rather slow. Anyone know why? Seismic reasons?

I think it might be taking a little longer because they are continuously unloading windows for the backside of the building as well. I have watched the big trucks arrive with the windows and then the crane lifts up the pack of windows and hauls it up over the top of the building and then down the backside. I would hope to see windows on the back of the building in the near future.

Very nice! I love the old mixing with the new. I thought the color was pretty nasty when they put up the first couple rows of window, but now I'm really liking it

You know what would be cooler?

That's the 90-story Transbay Terminal Tower that will be built in San Francisco in the next 10 years. They will bring in a high-speed rail (the station will be underground within the same complex as this building and several others) that will wisk people bewtween San Francsico and Los Angeles in 2 hours 15 min (from city center to city center). Now if only they could extend that thing over to Utah...

Actually, it's not that bad! You scared me there for a second! It's not as cool, but it's not too bad. It looks like the city council chose the Cesar Pelli model - which includes a hecka awesome 1400 ft long park at the base on top of the transit platform:

A much lower population base to support it? Although, SLC deffinatley could make an elevated park like that! That would be hecka awesome!

Sure we have a lower lower population, but Utah as of now is the fastest growing state. So maybe one day in the near future Salt Lake can start getting towers like that.

I think if we are going to put up a supertall it needs to be highly dramatic, instantly recognizable and, almost ironically it needs to blend in.

Whenever we get it (cuz we WILL get one, the question is just WHEN) The architects need to draw inspiration from the mountains.
