What's your favourite city in Europe? - Page 7

#1Ok my favorite city is Prague(great transportation, great looking, great place to live and just plain great)
#2Innsbruck(Amazing city, beutiful, clean, but havent ever lived there and it seems its missing something)
#3Venice(just beutifull and thats it)

Since alot of people were mentioning London in my opinion its great but not the greatest. Infact I must say except the fact that there is alot to do and its a big city it just doesnt have the same character and is a bit boring compared to many other european cities. My opinion might change if I would actualy live there for a extended period of time but it might also change for the worst.

Just to make this fun ill point out my least favorite(out of the main european cities) city. Rome, such great potential but the sight of garbage and smell of piss just ruined it for me. Plus the city seemed congested and the transportation seemed prety fcrapy for a city of its size, ill also add that when I was there for just under a week there was a transit strike so I couldent even catch a train to where I parked my car(though that still made my expereince probably better than if i actualy tried to venture in to the city by car, a mistake i made in napels later on a friday when it seemed like the whole city begun to empty out in to sorento).

I'm torn between livable (London) and romantic (Paris).

I haven't traveled much but based on pictures people I've met and things I've heard, I'd like to retire one day (prehaps move even earlier) somewhere in the Mediterranean, preferably Italy. Venice and Rome are high on my list. Some medium sized community near one of these cities would be sublime.

If you want to retire in a small town surrounding those cities, then I think you'll find more interesting options around Rome.

There are two cities in Europe that I enjoy visiting a bit more any other, and would probably plan into my vacation if I was in the region: Berlin and Edinbourgh.

If talking about just walking around in the city; popular choices like Frankfurt, Paris and London is not my cup of tea. I tend to dislike flat cities (Berlin is the obvious exception).

I like my hometown, but it lacks around 1/2 million people and some decent high rise buildings.

You can't exactly compare Frankfurt with London or Paris neither by size, neither by entertainment activities neither by anything else (except skyscrapers perhaps). And neither London (or Paris for that matter) is flat.

Ah, the common misconception is that London's a flat city. Alright, its not set beside mountains, but it is very hilly.

In the city proper, mainly the Buttes Chaumont and the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, though I agree they aren't that tall. In the urban area, the Hauts-de-Seine is quite hilly though, especially at the level of the Southwestern turn of the river Seine.

Now, this being said, I agree that Paris remains what I would consider as a flat city in the meaning that it is clearly not San Francisco !
