The people had better like it, or else. The building was designed by the country's leader and named after his mother.

I know this thread said one nomination only, but this one is so good / bad, and I made my other nomination months ago... so hear it goes.

The First World Hotel in Malaysia.

Using pure clocktower criteria I tend to agree.

There's some rough stuff out there. Here's a nomination from my neck of the woods, actually under construction - The Grand Castle Apartment in Grandville (near Grand Rapids, MI). According to the owner, its inspiration comes from the 19th century Neuschwanstein Castle, in Bavarian Germany. And according to the article,

Quote:
With more than 1 million square feet when completed, Grand Castle will rank as the second largest castle structure in the world...
Castle-inspired apartment complex with 400 units is rising quickly

^hold up that castle is pretty dope lmao that really doesn't look like something that would even get funding in the US let alone approval. It's adventurous, it's outrageous, it has a lot of character, and all being developed by one guy with a fascination of castles. I admire people like that, oddball, idealistic amateur architects and developers. I would take that over a standard suburban apartment complex any day of the week.

Nothing says "first world" like painting whole high-rises in loud, garish colors!

This is pretty ugly. It's San Diego's tallest building, (it just lies on its side) covers across a couple city blocks, with the Trolley cutting through it on C St.
Unlike the others, at least this one had the decency to lie down and play dead

Nobody talks enough about how truly ugly Watergate is, just a total assault on the eyes.

People actually pay money to live in this hideous beast?

How is this ugly? I don't get it... People must be comfy in there.
You just hate modernism.

Check out the maison de la radio in Paris.

https://structurae.net/structures/ma...a-radio/photos

That's where the national public radio station network is at. They surely broadcast quite a bit of socialist propaganda that bores and annoys me, but you'd love it if you only could speak French.

Plus, they broadcast FIP. Jazz, fine R&B, fine Pop Rock, World Music, Classical, everything, even crazy weird contemporary music on France Musique and France Culture... They have everything in there. Believe me. It's like the entire universe is contained in their building. All the finest. I so love it.

And it's sexy with capitalist la Défense in the background, isn't it? That's because we taxpayers fund it all.
But it's ok. I won't complain about it.

Its only saving grace is that it has cool LED's on it and other buildings in the area have adopted them as well. Looks cool at night.

So....this is absolutely hideous in person.

BTW, I don't think Watergate is ugly, at all. It's one of the few good examples of its style of architecture.

Downtown D.C. has loads of truly hideous buildings, although the downtown area is super dense, its super dead after work and just an overall unappealing experience to walk around in. But once you leave downtown DC its one of the prettiest cities in the country.

How about PK-Huset in Stockholm. It's currently the headquarters of Scandinavias largest bank, Nordea:

The main reason of why I hate it is the beautiful buildings that was tore down
in 1970:
