Why is it that just today, YIMBY upped their "official" figure for this tower to the 1,011' that everyone else--i.e. SSP--was reporting?

And they're asking rhetorically whether this will perceptibly change the design....What's 26 feet more or less, gents???

Tad off topic but what's up with the scaffolding above the HY subway entrance in post #522? Is that for water leakage repair?

Sometimes because of the weekend, they publish on a Monday. So if something was found out lets say Friday afternoon, it'll make news Monday or sometime the next week. They draw info from various sources, insider user info, or u/c updates from either the forums, elsewhere or even her sometimes.

Massive pit for a massive tower.

Just for scale, that second setback is higher than the UN building...

Thyssenkrupp Secures $130M Hudson Yards Contract
The Germany-based company will design and install more than 100 elevators and escalators across Related Cos. and Oxford Properties Group’s 18 million-square-foot, mixed-use development on Manhattan’s Far West Side.

SEP 26 2018
by Barbra Murray

Quote:
At the 2.9 million-square-foot 50 Hudson Yards office skyscraper, thyssenkrupp will provide as many as 40 elevator systems in one shaft. Twenty-seven elevators will be installed at the 1.3 million-square-foot 55 Hudson Yards office tower, and 12 elevator and escalator units will be put in place at The Shed, a 200,000-square-foot multi-arts center. The contract also calls for thyssenkrupp to deliver building transportation solutions for the 1 million-square-foot The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards retail center.
Quote:
Thyssenkrupp will employ its TWIN elevator system at the 50 Hudson Yards building. TWIN, which the company also plans to install in the elevator test tower at its $200 million U.S. headquarters development in metropolitan Atlanta, facilitates the independent functioning of two elevator cars in a single shaft, thereby allowing for a more efficient use of space and the accommodation of as much as 40 percent more passengers.

We're going to be watching these two massive office towers rise up at the same time, as well as 3 Hudson across the street. It's going to be fun, sort of like watching the WTC rise.

A look at who's in the neighborhood so far...

I notice from both of the renderings done by this firm that the "hat" is gone. I hope that is truly the case.

That doesn’t match any rendering we’ve seen. I wonder if we’ve seen the final design. It may have been tweaked somewhat.

Posted earlier, but a look at the render as well. It's gonna be a classy building. Maybe a little large, but it's neighbors will be large as well.
