Yeah, I think 385 Yonge was the last really big proposal, and even that is just a new design on an older proposal. Pinnacle Etobicoke is recent but there were none over 200 metres...

Everyone wants that to happen to them.

Sure Union Station as a marketing force has nothing to do with it because it isn't right next to the station. Union Station hasn't had any influence on the developmental success of Southcore. It's all about the competitive rates. The plus 15 network is mainly for show as the number of people heading up to King and Bay for midday meetings doesn't really justify it.

You're just grasping now.

Remember Bay Park Centre? It's just a marketing stand in.

I'm second generation Canadian. I like Toronto as a postmodern, ever evolving, international community. I'm not too fond of our old British/French colonial roots either. It doesn't scream Canada to me. There's also plenty around already that reminds us of them and how we have progress to become a individual nation.

(It's why I lock heads with Acajack and his unwavering agenda to freeze our colonial lines through crude, sociological generalization in support. He's sees multiculturalism as a passing fad. I see it as mankind's only future. See Europe. Most countries have excepted a universal global language among other things while still maintaining their cultural individuality.)
My name shows up in the oddest places.

So I am the champion of non-evolutionary paleo-Canadianism, am I?

Anyway, you mixed up a lot of concepts: multiculturalism, the European Union framework, the alleged hegemony of the English language...

Holy cow... where to start.

Yep pretty much.

In typical SSP fashion, your trying to conflate the discussion by bringing up the European Union framework. English has been the preeminent universal language of communication in the developed world long before the EU was even contemplated. You can pretend to deny it. I'm sure you know this to be true too. It's in every one of your posts. You're like Giuliani with 9/11 except its Anglo vs French with a passive aggressive emphasis on the French half being culturally rich and the Anglo half been culturally poor.

Re: muiltculturalism

Once again, a typical SSP retort to take two separate items and combine when they weren't presented as such. It's just cheap and disingenuous.

Sorry but I was named totally randomly in a thread where I never post. When that happens I am gonna respond.

I never call out other forumers out of the blue like that

They were simply references for providing context. In this case, their impact on the purity of Quebec culture as it pertains to Quebec language. I definitely don't see multiculturalism or a universal communicative language as being the same thing. Sorry, for the confusion.

The whole post was in reference to differing opinions. I wasn't calling you out. I do understand it wasn't in the best taste to use you as a reference but, that's also the context of SSP. It's either skyscrapers or forumers that are universally understood.

No need to apologize as it doesn't really bother me to be "called out". I can respond with the best of them.

On the other hand, I shouldn't be criticized for being off-topic if someone refers to me and I simply respond.

In terms of quantity perhaps, not quality. When cornered and categorically proven wrong, it usually ends with completely irrational histrionics on your part, in page after page, till a mod steps in and deletes the evidence

I'll step away from this potential landmine of time-suck, as tempting as it is, since noone can compete with your posting stamina!

Anyway, hey look a tall skyscraper thingie! Let's discuss!!

Just to try uh...shimmie this thread into something a bit more on topic...I'm wondering when 23 Spadina/Canada Shack/House will start after marketing. I'm thinking likely the end of this year or the beginning of next year we should see something really materialize on site.

Looking at the list...I'm intrigued by the single proposal from Gatineau...seeing as hos there isn't a great buzz in real estate in Gatineau, at least compared to Ottawa.

Will Canada House hit the open market? I suspect "family and friends" will buy it out.

The one in Gatineau is not very popular from what I've read about it. I doubt it will be approved.

I have seen plenty of internet ad's for Canada House... and most are in Chinese!

I thought I saw a new design for the Gatineau tower, but nobody else seems to be able to confirm that...

After flashy new renders showing Artists Alley as 2 ~ 40 storey towers, there is still no change to the proposal... (currently it's #51)

With Phase 1 of 88 North U/C, does anybody know when the South tower will begin construction?

For the Gatineau project ,this is the render of Place des Peuples
It will be so pretty and i would like to see this region modern.
I live in the area and i am very ashamed of the region.
It would be fun to see it approved ,but the city seems to be against the project.

The renders are not new at all .

Thanks for the update enrigue8. Now I remember why I never bothered to make a new drawing... that looks horrid! If the project gets approved, then I'll update my drawing.

Looks fake.

Might as well put the Oxford Place twins on the list again.
