I guess you are talking about Kerkythea and trying to render reflective glass. The is a download page http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/inde...tory&Itemid=43 where you can download materials that other members have created. It will take some time and practice. Very easy to use.

I didn't know it was a rule to not post our models on here. This is my first competition so all the help would be good. Like do I just send you guys the model or just an image?

You just send in the image's to Aleks0o01. You don't need to give the model.

We just don't like seeing images beforehand because some participants feel that it skews the voting results because one user got more "advertising" than others.

So with Kerkythea, does that plug right into sketchup 6?
"Kerkythea 2008 Echo for Windows" is the right one?

Yes that is the right one. They have a getting started forum on where to place the plugin in the sketchup folders. I would just read it and go over it. It's about 15 pages long. Shouldn't take long but it is very useful for getting to know kerkythea and referring back to it when you have a problem.

Started playing around with it. Its a cool program and all but I have to go to so much effort just to open a sketchup file in the program because I have to convert it to .3ds which is a pain on the free version.

Anyone got any tips on how to open my files easier?

You don't have to convert to .3ds. There is a file named su2kt.rb when you download Kerkythea and you place this in your plugin folder in sketchup. When you open up sketchup after doing this you should be able to see, under the plugins tab, kerkthea exporter and then export model. It saves it as a xml file.

Ok I got it all set up. Kerkythea is really complex for me and its going to take a lot of time for me to figure it out. Now I need to go find some tutorials to use so I can learn how to use lighting and stuff like that.

I believe December 12 if I remember correctly.

I am practically done myself. Its finals week next week so I had to finish mine early so as to eliminate distraction when I should be studying.

I will also submit mine around the deadline. My last final is on December 11th so I may do some last minute stuff on the 12th.

I don't expect to win. Maybe after some experimenting around in Kerkythea I can provide a better showing.

If you guys don't mind me asking, what would you do if you won? I mean what would you select as the next project?

Who ever wins gets to choose the next comp. And their name goes on the Competition Archives list.
