Ha, I thought the Souhtwest Plaza was this massive square block thing, and it's actually rectangular! That church is a great new element, and man, that aerial is to die for.

Thanks, guys!

I wanted to experiment with indoor shots, so here's the result: a view from the office of George Gutierrez, the CEO of Navaho Springs Media Network, at the 8th floor of the NSMN Building.

Omg! Amazing work. First it was Rocane, then Novaho, now inside shots? Come on man! You're past due your 15 minutes of fame! Haha, just kidding. But really, your work is amazing.

Do you do interior work for one small scene? Do you photoshop the skyline into the room render? Or do you actually model each floor in some [or all] buildings?

Thanks, guys, for the extremely heartwarming comments! Btw. Toyota and Neo, I didn't know that you are fans of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Well, this was a one time thing. I modeled that room separately, then added it as component in the actual Navaho Springs model, replacing the solid windows in that building. So that shot is all Kerky, no photoshop.

That shot turned out pretty cool, so I might do more indoor shots in the future.

Absolutely amazing. When i was browsing this site again for the first time in ages this and Rocane made me want to use sketchup again. Needless to say, my favourite buildings are the older ones but the whole lot looks fantastic.

Love the interior shot too.

Here's the Navaho County Administrative building. It was built in 1965. It became the tallest building in Navaho Springs with the height of 262 ft (80 m). It held that title until 1978 and the completion of the Southwest Plaza. Today it is the fourth tallest occupied building in the city.

That is a splendid box! The diner is really nice as well, it adds some street level detail, which this city seems to be a lot about.

This is pretty cool stuff. Since I actually live in Arizona, I do have a few comments about several things:

1. Northern Arizona is generally mountainous with high plateaus and scrub or pine trees. There are no palm trees. Palm trees are found only in the deserts around Phoenix and Tucson, at a much lower elevation. The lowest elevations in Northern Arizona are generally around 4,000 to 5,000 feet. Winslow, Arizona, which is the closest significant town to the Navajo Reservation, is about 4,900 feet elevation. Flagstaff is almost 7,000 feet and is quite heavily forested with pine trees, like Ponderosa Pines. Here's some photos of Flagstaff to show you what I'm talking about:

2. Speaking of Navajo, the proper spelling of the word is with a j, not an h.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navajo_people

3. Your city does look a lot like Tucson, which is Arizona's second largest metro area, and is located about 100 miles southeast of Phoenix, at an elevation of about 2,500 feet. Tucson has about 550,000 in the central city and about a million people total. Pics of Tucson can be seen here:

Thanks for your work, by the way.

Thank you for the info, Don! First thing I decided about this city, was that it's located in Arizona. Then I thought of a name, and first thing about Arizona that came to my mind was the Navajo (because of the Tex Willer comic book series - you're probably not familiar with it ). As the Navajo are located in northern parts of Arizona, I located Navaho Springs there. Lastly I decided that this city will have a Tucson feel. At that point I didn't do my homework well, and didn't check whether a city looking like Tucson could exist in North Arizona. As I want this to be quite realistic SU city, I will relocate Navaho Springs to South Arizona.

As for the name, I'm quite attached to Navaho Springs, so I won't change it. Why Navaho? Well, here in Finland both forms are used, and I wrongly assumed that that's the case in US as well. Why two forms, I don't know, but now that I think of it, I'm guessing it has to do something with the fact that in Finland the word Navaho is pronounced like you pronounce the word Navajo - as Finnish is pronounced exactly as it is written.
