Excavation of the parking lot for the Safeway redevelopment in Vancouver at 70th and Granville began June 1st. Rumour has it that the Safeway store itself may remain open until August.
Links in jlousa's original post for this thread were for City of Vancouver's old website and no longer work. Updated links to append "former" as the beginning of each URL so they work. eg: http://former.vancouver.ca/,,,
Second photo, on Cornish Street side of the site, shows excavation for the 7-storey slab residential building on Cornish. The upper right corner of the photo is the excavation for the residential tower at Cornish and 70th.
Another one of Westbank’s gems. This high end Project on the south side of of Vancouver is the first in the area, sure to boost the community’s local econemy and solidify housing prices for the future. Our model was built to travel, Westbank will use it to sell to foreign buyers. The model has no lights, but beyond that is a highly detailed model and spares no expense.
Thanks for posting.
The use of brick makes the project seem more "dense" and "heavy" than it would have without it. But the alternative would have been metal panel, and brick is a "higher value" finish. It would have been nicer if they had used a lighter coloured brick.
