Not sure if anyone already stated this, but in January alone surrey had 5 murders.
In one day in January, BC recorded 8 homicides. I wonder what the rest of the year will look like. Anyone know the current number Surrey is at?

Surrey recorded its 8th murder for 2013, with a population of 483,000 (2011)

It says Surrey is actually at 10 murders for 2013 at the gangstersout website. Insane.

http://gangstersout.blogspot.com/

Great blog by the way. The guy has been doing it for a few years now. I think he started during the insane amount of gang violence that Metro Vancouver experienced in 2009, and by the look of it, we may have a repeat of that awful year .

Our first murder since 2011. A man who was assaulted this past Wednesday has now died in hospital and a murder investigation has now begun.

Vicious St. John's assault now a homicide investigation

A vicious assault that took place last week in St. John's has now become a homicide investigation.

On Wednesday, police responded to a disturbance at a home on Tessier Place, where one man attacked another. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The victim, a 46-year-old man, died overnight at the Health Sciences Centre.

Sgt. Paul Murphy of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said an autopsy will be performed.

"And we will await the results from that, and that will be passed onto our investigators and the investigation will be ongoing from there," said Murphy. "We haven't released a name or anything. We're notifying family and things like that so it might be released at a later date."

Murphy, when interviewed by CBC, said "Members of our criminal investigation division are still working as we speak, and they're doing their regular investigation, investigative techniques for this type of complaint. They are just waiting on some more information, and interviewing witnesses, anyone they can find."

Investigators are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

0 for Lethbridge so far.

Just heard on the news another body was found in the Sunalta area of Calgary. Not sure how many murders they have had this year, but there have been a few at least.

Looks like Calgary is tied with Edmonton so far. Both at 4 murders each.

How many homicides does Surrey usually have yearly? What's going on right now isn't very common right, having that many homicides already?

And, seemingly, another targetted shooting.

Has London had a murder yet?

It's true cities and/or police will not register crimes if they think it will look poorly on the city. Just look at Vancouver, 70 slaughtered women but to save the city embarrassment and the police money they simply called them "missing". They still don't show up on the city murder stats for those years.

They can't just assume it's a murder, they have to have evidence. If the woman has simply vanished without a trace, technically it is simple a missing person, even if it's likely the individual has been murdered.

Two murders in London. One murder event as a double-homicide, looks like.

Another murder in Edmonton. I think this makes it five. Second shooting of the year. Whoever enters the Woods, never comes out alive. . .
