Nice view and I assume its is very unlikely that anything will be built to block it within the next decade or two. Correct me if I am wrong but nothing else is zoned for towers to the west of this development up to at least King Edward village. That and there are no large sites that can be easily assembled and rezoned except for the Quality Inn site which is on the north side of Kings Way and would likely not be able to hold a very tall tower because it would shadow the SFH to the north.

Funny that people are claiming that views of the mountains are blocked by the downtown buildings. Viewcones, anyone?

Yeah these people are clearly insane. The mountains are in the opposite direction of downtown and I won't have anyone tell me otherwise.

PS that photo is awesome. Surprised there is no (c) Klaus Johansson at the bottom.

The site has now been cleared of the old crappy tire building and excavation work looks imminent.

Which tower is going to go up first or will the whole project move forwards in one phase?

I believe the first two towers are pretty much sold out and the third tower is now selling so I would'nt be surprised if the whole development is built as one phase.

I like the South tower with the simple grid, but hate the other two. Lots of spandrel coming up. I've always wondered at the marketability of those spiral stairs at the top that seem to have appeared on a bunch of projects already... would imagine anyone with the slightest fear of heights would not want to hanging off the building in a thin metal structure 10-20 stories up

WRT the spiral stairs, I can't help but thinking that in 20 years they'll be rusty and in need of replacement - at strata cost?

Personally I don't like the outside stairs, but perhaps there there so they don't take inside sqft, and maybe some "cool" factor?

Probably the cool factor - because if a developer can charge for extra inside floorspace, they would.

There is a condo building called "Spruce" on West Broadway with similar spiral stairs going up to the roof. Looks pretty good though.

If I recall, the first external spiral staircase building was Bastion's project at West Broadway and Maple. Since then they've cropped up in a number of projects, some by the same architects, others by firms jumping on the trend. They only service penthouses, so I can see marketing consultants saying that they're becoming an expected amenity for penthouses of mid-rise buildings.

Can someone please explain me how does a 992sqf 3-bedroom + den + 2 bathroom suite (for $610 000) look like? How small do those rooms have to be??

The first crane for this project went up mid-last week. I'll try to get some pics of the pit.
