I agree Ottawa needs a 30+ office tower (ideally 50+) but I would rather see such outside downtown so it doesn't severely interfere with Parliament.

parliament is already plenty interfered with; the CBD forms the Precincts southern wall practically. There are very few angles where the Centre Block is still prominent and you know what? I'm fine with that.

For entertainment value, depending which of the three on-site signs you look at, it's 21, 22, or 26 storeys.

Yes, including some public access, at market rates.

Even though this should have already being done a least a few years ago.

What does that even mean? It's a private project, they didn't have a tenant...

When the City sold off the property it was supposed to be a showcase for the new OP (e.g. 25% affordable housing). I wonder what would have happened if they used their clauses to repurchase the property from Morguard (since nothing had happened) when they had the opportunity to do so, because a lot of those elements from the original plan have been removed.

I found the Teron proposal on Emporis

along with another alternative proposal by Dan S. Hanganu Architects

Sure, I was thinking if the concert hall would have been a reality too, probably the building would already being open or well into construction by then. Nevertheless it's good it's underway now, so it can mask that tedious 66 Slater building from another angle. Now let's block the view of it from the east. Hum! Not much chance I think.

I work next door to 150 Elgin. They are vibrating the long metal wall braces (correct term =?!) to get them down into the ground. What a racket! My Place Bell office on the 10th floor is shaking too.

It is soooo noisy! Hope they're done with all the shaking/vibrating by the time I return to work next door on Monday. Doubt it.
