With regard to people saying they love or hate tower, personally I like it just think it should stand out more to remember what happened, I just don't think it is very spectacular. I also agree it is not just height but how it stands out. The second WTC tower is actually much better in my eyes. Then again I am not a NYer. As for concrete as a fire proofing agent, in Vancouver because of the density of the houses here and thus proximity, they use concrete walls as fire barriers so I would assume concrete is a great fire barrier.

Strange how different construction is here versus NY, here everything is steel renforced concrete but there you have more steel structures. any reason why you think?

Very good contributions NYguy.

It's very amusing to me, because I don't think many people realize how much work go into the construction of this site (the bath tub). If all of these work hours spent on the tub were put into the construction of the new WTC, it would be built over 3 times.

This progression this site has made since the begining of the summer alone is outstanding. Just give a few more months, and you will all be shocked on how fast the steel will rise.

Patience is the key to success when it comes to construction.

You know that this comment is of no value to the thread. Really, why do you bother? Are you really that board and ignorant?

Not trying to get off topic, and this isn't against anyone here, but my posts keep doubling almost every time I write one.

I think he means that the forum is automatically creating 2 posts (1 is a duplicate), when there should just be 1.

Maybe you should go and make a post in the Forum Issues section instead of going off topic here.

Exactly.

Maybe there are still a few chinks in the chain that have yet to be worked on.

Watusi, REALLY?!

Yeah, and according to some info that I read, the eastern tub is completed.

And NYguy IS a great asset to the Construction forum! He keeps us updated on the very latest happenings with pics of Ground Zero and some of the other constr. projects.

And we haven't seen anything yet.

I like this shot in particular because it shows the portion of the new, eastern tub completed (where tower 4 will rise). It's the same process used in the creation of the original WTC. Years from now, when the complex is completed, we'll remember the construction of the tub first.

The Freedom Tower is almost ready for its closeup.
