^ I'm not too saddened by the loss of this. But I do really dislike all the 1950s-60s mid-century MiMo (Miami Modern) buildings that have come down for yet another soulless condo tower.

I hope not. I thought plans were in the works to fully restore it, but last I heard about that was a year or so ago. I really don't understand why an historic theater in one of Miami's top neighborhoods can't seem to make it work.

There has been a lot of back and forth between the city and county about this and if there is enough funds. Plus, the County wants to demolish most of the Playhouse except the front "v shape". Regardless, this has sat empty for 13 years now and is in pretty bad shape in the inside.

RADISSON RED HOTEL PLANNED IN BRICKELL WITH 183 ROOMS & ROOFTOP BAR

An 18-story mixed-use project that includes a Radisson Red hotel is under planning in Brickell.

The project would be built at 900 SW 2nd Ave, replacing a single story Ace Hardware building.

The proposal calls for 183 hotel rooms, three floors of office space with 32,000 square feet, and 6,000 square feet of retail.

A rooftop bar and restaurant is also planned.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2020, with completion in 2021, according to a press release from Radisson earlier this year.

DEMOLITION BEGINS AT WYNWOOD QUARTER PROPERTIES, WILL EVENTUALLY INCLUDE SIX SITES

Demolition is beginning at the Wynwood Quarter project, according to a Notice of Commencement filed earlier this month.

Also this month, engineer Bliss & Nyitray wrote on social media that they had been selected as engineer of record for the project, working alongside architect Zyscovich.

The project will feature 6 buildings that will include retail, residential, & hotel.

One of the buildings is said to include condos using the Diesel brand. Sales were supposed to launch earlier this year.
