Hines is proposing a mixed use development in the Warehouse District across from Target Field - a 36 story apartment tower and 14 story office building. This will get rid of the last large surface parking lot in that part of the Warehouse District.

Glad you enjoyed your visit! I've never been to Springfield, but I've spent a good chunk of time in both KC and STL and enjoyed both. I would definitely say that STL is among the most under-rated cities I've spent time in. Tremendous potential there if the economic conditions can improve.

I have never been to Minneapolis, but would love to.

Beautiful city. I have seen so many photos of it, and videos too.
I grew up seeing shots of the city in the Mary Tyler Moore show (if that counts).
If I do make it there, I'll have to look up that corner where Mary throws her hat in the air.

I have met a number of people from Minnesota (mostly Minneapolis) over the years who were either visiting or had moved to the OKC area.
GREAT PEOPLE, those Minnesotans.
They even put up with my teasing their long-O sounds (min-uh-SOH-ta).

Edit:
I have to add St. Paul as well.
I've seen many lovely photos of St. Paul and would have to give it a visit too.

In your photo's of development on lower Nicollet, I can't believe that they haven't resurfaced that ugly, ugly, ugly Hyatt Hotel they built back in the 1970's and that ugly, ugly, ugly attached parking ramp. I have always rated it an eyesore, a big embarrassment to downtown Minneapolis.

Can't the Minneapolis city council at least pay for a different paint job for that eyesore!!! Or best yet, re-surface it with reflective glass. I lived in the Loring Park area during the early to mid-70's and had to suffer from passing by that ugly building many times.

I've never been offended by the Hyatt. Crisp clean white. The parking ramp has had a rather colorful mural painted on it for a few decades. This is the only picture I can find of it. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/433049320396110073/

I believe this Hyatt was built during a period when the City Council was desperate for new development and they were just happy to have any new hotel development.

I had been in the iconic Hyatt in San Francisco and I was expecting more exciting architecture from Hyatt than what they put up in Minneapolis. It looks more like an office building. But I'm sure the San Francisco city council was much more involved in the design process for that hotel in the Embarcadero area.

The Holiday Inn across the street was much better designed. I remember when living there, going up to that rooftop bar for drinks. No rooftop bar at the Hyatt!

MPLS Const Watch you’re right about St Louis having great bones and I honestly wish STL could move in the direction of Minneapolis. I’m really considering a move to the Twin Cities after I’m done with school. It has all the right things going for it and I really want to be apart of it!

Great updates as always. With the SW LRT (new light rail going from downtown Minneapolis to Eden Prairie, a suburb 15 miles SW of downtown) under construction - interesting to see if even more of these 3-6 floor apartments are preemptively built along the line, near the future stations.
