Legislators weigh purchase of old St. George airport/Utah state government may become owner of some 200 acres of the best undeveloped residential land in southern Utah - the old St. George airport.

While I understand the how that land would be attractive for new residential development... I really wish all of the mesa's in that area were left alone. I was down there a couple of weeks ago and thought about how much more attractive the area would be if there were regulations in place keeping development off of them.

Dixie airport is fetching $44 million

After a 130 somewhat years the temple is STILL the tallest building in St. George. At the rate st. George is growing now I think it's time for the city to go to the next level. Set a center/urban core and let's start building some mix-use midrises.

You'll be happy to know Projects that they have started a core called Town Square. It has more of an historic feel to it though, with a lot of cool details. The taller towers will probably be centered in a different location. Who knows, it could evolve in the same way as Provo, along St. George Blvd.

Cool, I didn't know about this, haven't been down there in awhile. Thanks Delts.
I would like to see something in the 5-8 story range.

I cannot believe the growth down there, it is out of control and sprawling. I love St. George but it is starting to lose its intimacy.
Just a question for the city planners and developers in this pretty town in the desert, "Where will the water keep coming from?" Lake Powell becomes more shallow as each year passes.
Salt Lake isn't even immune to water woes and we have access to more water than the dry desert area of s. utah.
Think, Smart Growth.

Maybe I missed it on this thread, but is there any update on the new In n Out burger in Washington City? I'm ready to pack my bags and take a road trip when it opens. I heard maybe the first of May? Anybody down there that can take some pics and share with us?

Developer reveals its plan for St. George airport site

Plans for old St. George airport site include mixed-use community

Anderson Development says it will build neighborhoods, churches, schools and open green spaces on the mesa overlooking downtown St. George. A conceptual design also includes a town center with shops and an amphitheater.

Very cool, I saw the name Wren, and I channeled a vision of you eating at Chadder's. Wow, I'm semi-psychic. Seriously, I'm glad to hear the burgers are still good there. I haven't been back in a while.
