Hemisfair Redevelopment may add a building or two in that gap.

If that gap is ever going to get filled in most of it will have to happen in this area, because of the Alamo and the restrictions on building tall to its east and immediate north and south, and the Riverwalk.

I'll try to post a pic of DT from I90 inbound, as that is a nice view of DT, but my luck with posting pics has thus far proven futile.

This photo also shows how San Antonio's skyline is growing in the opposite direction of the Tower of the Americas... much like Seattle.

I know I'll catch crap for this, but can you imagine if the gap between the ToA and Weston Center was filled by 800 -1000 footers?

Looking forward to it.

When Frost tops out, maybe someone in SA with a high powered telephoto lens could get a photo from Willowbrook Drive on the northwest side?

Angle the camera down a little next time (or don't use square mode). I get it... it's artistic. Yeah, yeah... but I sincerely appreciate the photo.

I'm ready for our tallest to be built right in between the old and new Frost towers from this view. Right on those skinny parking lots.

But also, it is going to look amazing from this angle when done. Hurry up with that crown!

A nice little drone update From May 2018. I also had a question that i've been meaning to ask for months...what are those pallet looking things that are hanging diagonally off of the building? What is their purpose?

That is a perimeter barrier screen/system for protection of people below. They're used to help keep things from rolling/falling off the working floors above.

I feel as if they're going to have to use a helicopter to bring those pieces up all those floors. Those pieces seem too large and oblong to be held up by a stationary crane.

They're really not that heavy (maybe 5-6k lbs at the most). They won't be any heavier than the tables used to form the deck of each floor, and definitely a whole lot lighter than the wall forms used to form the elevator/stair cores.
That crane should be rated for at least 10k out at the bldg edge.

ETA: unless you're talking about the pcs of the crown structure...

They have started mounting pieces of the crown on top of the building. We can now see a full height of the building. It's exciting.

You beat me to it. I went out to Pride Fest and didn't see anything different with the tower as I rolled up, but as I walked back to my car, I got giddy like a school boy seeing that first spike. We're such nerds.
