And I just noticed in this rendering that somebody did some clever editing of the name of that infamous traitor on the hotel. I think "El Torre" is a much better name.

For real lol. I look at some of the projects going up in Austin and they're moving at an absolute snails pace compared to this one.

Yeah, but those projects in Austin are twice the height or more than this one. Oh well.

While I don't condone the South's part in the Civil War, some context is required in all things:

"In this enlightened age, there are few I believe, but what will acknowledge, that slavery as an institution, is a moral & political evil in any Country."

"While we see the course of the final abolition of human slavery is still onward, and give it the aid of our prayers, let us leave the progress as well as the results in the hands of Him who, chooses to work by slow influences, and with whom a thousand years are but as a single day."

"So far from engaging in a war to perpetuate slavery, I am rejoiced that slavery is abolished. I believe it will be greatly for the interests of the South. So fully am I satisfied of this, as regards Virginia especially, that I would cheerfully have lost all I have lost by the war, and have suffered all I have suffered, to have this object attained."

These are just some of Lee's quotes. We can't possibly understand the motivations of people so far out from their existence. Not defending him, but I'm not willing to Damn him either. That is God's job.

It is easy to hold those that lived 300 years ago to our present standards, but is equal folly to do so.

Wow. Just wow. Lee led an armed rebellion against his own country resulting in the deaths of over 600,000 people. He was by definition a traitor to his country, and mine. So yes, I absolutely have the right to judge him, and I do so rightly. And FYI, he did this 160 years ago, not 300.

Anyway, I don't want to get into a back and forth on this. It's not worthy of my time or anyone else's here. Have a nice day.

While did not want to get into this stupid stuff....

Since we are doubling down LEAVE IT ALONE. If you live thousands of miles away close your eyes while watching web cams since someone on here is too sensitive to not make awkward comment for no reason except to stir up a forum.

Saw this in the SA Biz Journal today.

Local developer Zachry Hospitality has set a groundbreaking date for its Hemisfair hotel project.

The company — a division of construction firm Zachry Group — has indicated a Nov. 15 start date for what's tentatively called "Hemisfair Hotel," according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. As previously reported, plans call for an 18-story, 200-room property that will be part of Hilton's upscale Curio Collection.

Construction is scheduled to wrap up in November 2025.

This brickwork will be impressive when it's done, the patterning on the upper floors (one panel was finished behind the light pole) reminds me of the Central Library garage.
