Telus Sky | 221 M / 725 FT | 58 FLOORS

So I'm creating this thread because there are already 2 threads about this development, neither of them that include project information in the title, and one of which has the name incorrect, "Telus Sky Tower"... so perhaps a mod could merge the other threads into this one.

Also, I found new renders showing the redesign at the bottom of the tower, including the park on the +30 level. It is absolutely stunning and I love the small new changes

That's damn beautiful. Like this project even more now. Non-energy company showing the big guys how it's done. Still no renderings of the re-clad of the old office building on the western end of the block though, hey?

It looks like they changed the non glass perimeter sections to black from white. Not sure I like that.

Also are those sweet spiral staircases inside the lobby new? Definitely like those.

Edit: I don't see the old Herald gargoyles anymore either.

If that's a design change, and not just a rendering quirk, than I'm not crazy about it either. I thought the white look to the first-gen renderings was fantastic. This feels a little less fresh.

It's like conservative masculine Calgary has an aversion to modern white.

Perhaps they would feel better if it was all chrome.

Not crazy about the black either but where the tower meets the pedestrian level looks a lot better.

God I hope they don't change those sections to black. Nice to see a clearer rendering of the green area/ lobby and it definitely looks more masculine now. Thanks for posting Chad!

Wasn't the entire point that they didn't want it to look masculine?

That plant wall looks great. I personally like the black cladding, similar to what Guardian is using, can see how some people prefer the white though.

One things for sure, this city sure likes variety in designs, colors, and heights which keeps things very interesting.

Did they receive their DP yet, or at least apply? With the way things are going they might want to get on that real soon if they want to start by summer.

I realize I'm probably in the minority here but I actually like the black outlines. IMO, it creates greater contrast and the transition as it rises is more impactful.

I like the black, I think even better than the white. This is going to be such a cool looking building.

Yeah the DP was sent in last December IIRC .. Pending review right now

No demo permit taken out for Arts Central though - I hope they get that permit, the DSSP, and BP all going in one shot though so they can tear down AC and start excavating right away

Demo is scheduled for this summer, so hopefully excavation starts fall/winter. Completion in 2017.
