Yeah, but demolishing it and leaving a giant vacant void (i.e. police parking from now until the end of time) would be like trading migraines for heart disease.

Where are they located, on the existing SkyCity sign?

The one I looked at was on Garry on the parking lot rate information sign and I believe the other one I saw was on the post of the existing SkyCity sign on the west side of the lot.

Just walked by. Along graham they're both on the parking lot rate signs. I believe a zoning variance changing to multiple use.

Contact planner Kurtis Kowalke 204-956-5917 for more information.

If anybody else stops by, should snap a quick pick of the variance to get the numbers. Then can search on City website to find any docs. That would be great, thanks. Don't really want to bug Kurtis with a call!

Took a one as I passed by hoping to read on the bus, but it didn't turn out. Not sure if you can make it out.

My guess. Variance DAV 15-1722048

From my understanding a DAV is a residential rezoning type of variance. Probably means they're getting ready to start building (relatively soon)

Foreigners make the market for less informed, thus more easily duped, buyers bigger. Winnipeg is an easy sell to them because their first impression was based on the flashy (and horribly inaccurate) sales brochures, plus compared to the rest of Canada real estate in MB seems cheap, in terms of dollar amounts. The statistics seem to indicate that luring foreign dollars was the purpose all along.

^ Haha, probably not too far from the truth. But if that was the sales strategy (selling to uniformed foreigners who think they're getting a glitzy Toronto/Vancouver highrise condo at a discount) then with the sales numbers being as they are I'm not sure if I'd call it a resounding success. Of course, I'm still hoping it gets built.

I haven't followed global currency trends recently but if the Canadian dollar is declining across the board like it is compared to the US dollar that would mean the unit prices on SkyCity are also dropping rapidly for foreign investors. Just a further observation...

Hopefully they have a foundation permit as well - otherwise those other two aren't worth much!

Still one step forward rather than 2 steps back.

Remember, "the Sales Centre" will never get built and the catch phrase. "Pie in the Sky"...?

Anyway..it's still forward progress at this point, irregardless of the outcome in the future.

Yeah, you guys got it. I couldn't find anything of CoW website. DAV is a residential zoning variance.

Is getting such permits a year+ in advance normal course of action? Or is it their way of saying, "look things are progressing"
