The most interesting thing about this thread is that some are being snobbish about places that they don't even live in.

Cool. I stayed in one of the houses in this village when trekking alongside the mountain walls of the tiger jumping gorge three years ago.

Well as a matter of fact, Sigirya is one of the main locations in Arthur C. Clarke's The Fountains of Paradise, the book which is credited with popularizing the concept of the space elevator.
