United commits to seasonal Denver flights

Regional jet service to Friedman set to start July 2

Officials from the nonprofit Fly Sun Valley Alliance, Friedman Memorial Airport and Sun Valley Resort announced Monday that United Airlines this summer will offer daily, nonstop flights between Denver and the Hailey airport

“It’s not Denver as a market per se, but a direct connection to the East Coast,” Waller said. “The New York area is a strong market in this valley.”

Southern Idaho Attracts Nearly $800 Million in Food Company Investments in 10 Months

Seven companies - including Chobani, Monsanto, Clif Bar & Frulact Group - invest in rural region, creating 5,000 jobs, according to the Southern Idaho Economic Development Organization.

America’s most diverse food basket, Southern Idaho, has secured a record-setting seven projects in 10 months, including new investments from food giants Chobani, Monsanto, Clif Bar and Frulact Group as well as expansions of Glanbia Foods, McCain Foods and Calva/Brewster. These projects are expected to generate 5,000 new jobs (direct and indirect) with a combined investment of over $773 million, according to the Southern Idaho Economic Development Organization.

Here's an intriguing bill that I was against until I read the statement of purpose.

Bill to exempt Idaho from Daylight Savings time.

In the statement of purpose, the bill aims to put Idaho on "Spring Forward" time in perpetuity. The extra hour of evening sunlight we have in the summer is such a big plus for folks who have to work until 5:00pm or later. This bill would give us that extra evening hour year-round instead of just March-November.

I can't imagine the folks in CDA would like this bill. They would be an hour ahead of Spokane and an hour behind Boise. They could align with Boise, but then they'd be 2 hours ahead of Spokane. Talk about a disrupting commute.

Tamarack Resort was sold to Credit Suisse on Monday March 10, 2014, at a sheriff's sale, culminating 6 years of foreclosure litigation. The sheriff's sale is the first step in clearing title to the property created by Tamarack Resort LLC (TRLLC), the borrower of $250,000,000 from a Credit Suisse collateralized loan obligation (CLO) in 2006. The resort's owners' association, Tamarack Municipal Association, Inc., will continue to operate mountain facilities through at least the end of of the 2014-15 ski season.

TMA also operates the Robert Trent Jones II Osprey Meadows Golf course.

Sun Valley lands U.S. Alpine finals

National championships coming to Idaho

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association announced Thursday that Sun Valley Resort will host the U.S. Alpine Ski Championships in 2016 and 2018. It will be the first time in 65 years that the Idaho resort has hosted nationals.

America’s oldest ski resort, Sun Valley will celebrate its 80th anniversary when it hosts the national finals in 2016.


“The first race attracted the ‘ski clans of the world’ and set the scene for Sun Valley to become a prestigious stop on the European, Canadian and American ski racing circuits. With nearly 80 years of commitment to ski racing, Sun Valley is looking forward to continuing this tradition by hosting the USSA Alpine Championships in 2016 and 2018.”

Coyote Rock. It is on the backside of Bogus off of Boise Ridge Road near Mores Mountain. If you go watch out for wolves

Thirty percent of the passengers on a recently inaugurated United Airlines daily flight from San Francisco this winter were first-time visitors to Sun Valley, indicating that the new flight is bringing more business to the area.
