Since they are trying to move condos, they want to start getting names of people interested ASAP.

Digital/Marketing agencies do this all the time. If one or both of those two large proposals move forward, maybe they keep it. It's more likely the domain gets forwarded to one of those properties once they have full sales materials.

The reason there isn't say a Streeterville one is because there are dedicated sites for everything they have there. All you would be doing is adding an additional step to the sales funnel. And that funnel doesn't even matter so much for rentals since they don't need presales. OBP has condos, but the rental portion didn't necessitate generating sales quickly as a condition to start construction.
Makes sense

Looks like this will not be starting this year. Interesting concept in the meantime, though.

I was thinking just this for Roosevelt / Michigan - you cold even stack a few in front of that big blank wall.

Really REALLY hope this building comes to fruition and relatively soon. Other than any of the proposed 1k footers this is likely my favorite and hoped for building.

How much shorter do think this one will get chopped by the nimbys? Maybe full approval since its right along the expressway.

Exciting. Hope this starts soon.

Has this and 400 N LSD changed any opinions about Related Midwest? Seems like they are moving from immediate dread to cautious optimism here on this board.

It's on the plan commission agenda as proposed. Going full height.

Great to see it did not get chopped down. Hope it gets built as advertised. This will look amazing at that location.

yeah, this one will be a true skyline expander if built to its full planned height.

i was up on a friend's roof top in roscoe village last night for fireworks viewing and she has a killer skyline view from up there. i was appreciating how much impact one south halsted is already having on the westward skyline push, and then imagined another tower out that way with an additional 180' of height. it'll be a pretty big deal, similar to what one museum park did for south loop skyline expansion.

Nope, but it wouldn't be in the CPC agenda with the alderman on board.
Should get rubber-stamped no problemo.

Yup. Its east of Halsted, which by WLCO's own definition is part of downtown and fair game for skyscrapers. If they put up a fight for this tower, they would be literally going against their own craptastic ideological doctrine, which I guess wouldn't be a total surprise but would be glaringly hypocritical.

Yes, I don't think any West Loop residents had any serious or organized opposition to the height.

IIRC the neighborhood was mainly concerned about increased traffic at Randolph/Halsted, which can indeed be a clusterf*ck at night sometimes. But Related moved the primary garage entrance/exit to a back door location on Washington, so Randolph is just the front door for pedestrian traffic and Uber/taxi dropoffs. They also planned streetscape upgrades to Randolph including partial closure of the service drives or conversion to a "shared space" like Argyle to create a proper gateway/plaza space for the Randolph Market corridor.
