Ultra-slim buildings in your city

Not towers, but small, residential/commercial blocks.

I found this one in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NYC.

From the front it's not so bad, until you realize it doesn't form a trapezoid back to the thin section...

I'm suprised you didn't mention Vancouver's own Sam Kee Building (1913)... which is a two-story commercial building a mere 6 feet deep.... It holds the Guinness world record for skinniest commercial building... though Pittsburgh is challenging that claim...

although are you specifying only residential buildings?

In Downtown Pittsburgh we have the appropriately-named Skinny Building... this three story building built in 1918 is 5'2" wide. The ground level has retail while the upper floors serve as an art installation.

yes- you can tell by the windows being variously open, blinds drawn and trash on the fire escape. I took these pics so I know people were home.

That's awesome! I never knew about either, which is why I started this thread.

Go wild with whatever other than modern towers.

Doesn't get much thinner than this:

The one story building between Lafayette and Mulberry.

Man, I was going to run up there and take a few pictures for this thread. Actually, yours appears to be broken, so maybe I still should. I walk by it every day and it still amazes me.

That Pittsburgh one is sick. Who in their right mind actually decided to build that?

Would definitely like to hit this one up if I go to that Pittsburgh meet this may.

That would be great, the pic I used doesn't seem to be showing up. As far as the building, you know somethings up when in NYC they only build it one storey.

The funny thing is that I hadn't realized that you were talking about the one that has all of the hipster eateries in it. I was thinking of the three storey attached building on Kenmare between Lafayette (well technically Cleveland) and Mulberry. The one that you're referring to always makes me chuckle because it so embodies the New York "every square inch counts" mentality.
If I have time tomorrow (which is a huge if), I'll run by both and snap off a few shots. I've been wanting to get tacos from La Esquina all week, so maybe this'll be just the excuse I need to get out after a day of classes and take some pictures instead of being a hermit and studying.

This certainly isn't the slimmest building around but it is a nice one, well proportioned.
