the third tower is really going to ruin the nice twin tower effect going on

they should have put it just slightly east

Funny, I'm as pro-skyscraper as anyone, but I had a similar thought.

Perhaps the long-term goal is to achieve a few more tightly clustered residential and office high-rises, so that it actually feels like a city, rather than just a mall with towers attached.

Well, i went out to take some pictures today because it is just too beautiful to stay inside - Here is Metrotown on November 19th!

A willow near my apartment

Kingsway

The new pedestrian overpass

Another of the overpass

I always wonder if you could fool some people and say this is downtown?

Some nice trees

And center Point

All pictures are my own.

Well, time for me to share some winter photos. these are all from 2 days ago.

School getting out

Crossing guard

Thirsty?

Need to sit?

looking cold

Snow Rose

Cold Street

Golden Ears

Deer Lake. Now this photo almost became this skater's last, for only 1 second after i took this photo (no exaggeration) he fell through the ice. I quickly called 911 and ran down to the lake shore along with another witness. He was struggling for a while to get out of the water, luckily the fire department came quickly and got him out. Was a strange evening, but since he made it out ok i think it is ok to share the photo. It actually turned out to be a decent photo too! hehe. But that just goes to show, be careful if venturing out on the ice, it takes a good long freeze for the ice to become safe to skate on. The warning signs are up for a reason!

Enjoy the snow!

wow. definitely could fool someone with Burnaby's skyline as being downtown Vancouver. what a vibrant, growing city to be in What would be the top 5 skylines in metro van?

1. Downtown
2. Burnaby
3. ?
4. ?
5. ?

Potentially, Surrey could have the 2nd best skyline, when they start building it.

My list currently would be

1 - Downtown
2 - Metro-town
3 - New West
4 - North Vancouver
5 - A huge cluster tie of Lougheed, Willington, Coquitlam, Surrey and Richmond.

I've actually had some tourist on the plane next to me on multiple different occasions ask me if metrotown was downtown vancouver.

I would say at this point Willingdon is the 4th best, its towers are much bigger and for the most part nicer than NV. NV can have 5th and the rest at this point dont make the list.

WV might even beat out NV, but it is a bit more linear.

I know exactly what you mean. You get Metrotown and Edmonds in the distance as well and it looks like this large urban corridor. At night it is stunning.

Well more Metrotown pics. I was bored tonight so i thought i would capture some life in the Metrotown area:

A typical portion of the north side of Kingsway

The pedestrian overpass (Does this count as a skywalk? Its kind of a half breed since its covered but open on the sides )

Looking West from the skywalk/overpass

Looking east from the skywalk. Looks like auto trouble!

Looking towards Metropolis and the Rogers towers

The main entrance into Metropolis, the good thing about such malls is they add some lighting effects to the city. The three big poster boards i think is one of the best locations in Metro-Vancouver for some LED screens.

A side residential street

Enjoy!

Very nice long exposures! Too bad there is not enough traffic to create a consistent light trail per lane on the 3rd one...
