Great thread! I like everything but especially the moss, the trees and the fog. I wish we had more fog in Minnesota.

A nice photo of Reed College.

So where is this picture taken? It is always fun to see something in your own city that you have lived in for years that you have never seen before. This place looks like it might be worth the trek out to see it before I move.
The Stone House is on the Lower MacLeay trail in Forest Park. Really easy to get to -- about 1/2 mile in from the trailhead (around 28th & NW Upshur).

It was built as a rest station with bathrooms in 1930s as a WPA project, but fell into disrepair from 1962 Columbus Day storm, and the city never fixed it. Great hike on the way to Pittock Mansion!

ue: it's foggy somewhat regularly here, yeah. hiking in the woods and just walking around town in it feels like my head.

giallo: your friends might be sad to learn that stumptown is no longer the king of coffee. the "anti-starbucks" sold 90% of its assets to a new york investment firm last year. but on the other hand, portland roasting (local coffee company names are very original, y'see) is straight up killing it.

okayyou: i kinda owed everyone a makeup from that last toilet.

sacramentan: hit me up, i'm down. (that's going to be the name of my next album.)

dtpdx: it feels a little weird to admit that i love a highway project, but the viaduct's simplicity and rhythms really make it an incredible design.

urbanlife: that's known simply as the "stone house" and is where the macleay trail and wildwood trail intersect in forest park, closest to NW 29th & upshur. it was built as a WPA-era rest house in the 30s -- http://www.oregonencyclopedia.org/en.../macleay_park/ -- and has been abandoned since the 60s. also, you're leaving town? EDIT: see also, what dtpdx said.

everyone:

We've gotta meet up some time; I know some spots you'd probably love (although for all I know, you found them years ago!).

How have you been in Portland this long and have not met up with the one like Sasso. Seriously, how?

Well, in my defense, I am an architecture student with an active social life: those are two huge time drains right there.

I did meet up with markofphotography once. That was a good meetup, spending the sunrise on a ledge over a freeway.

Thanks for the info guys, I definitely need to do a Forest Park hike before leaving.

My girlfriend and I are moving to NYC in May/June. The move date is still up in the air, it will depend on finding jobs and an apartment and such, but it is definitely going to happen.
