Also nice little view of Place St Charles and Hibernia Tower in the background of a future episode of The Simpsons:

The Drive Shack at the former T-P site is moving forward:

Watching the mayor's press conference, they are trying to have it open by the end of 2019.

Damn that takes that long to build? Still curious how they will improve access to the site from its current state... while its very visible the actual access to the site is quite difficult from most directions.. did they say anything about this in the press conference?

Looks like they are also doing test piles at the old Schwegmans on Annunciation in the LGD for the new Edwards development. And Dat's on Magazine and Felicity was razed and looks like they're digging out the prior gas tanks, not sure what's proposed for there.

Well, they have to demolish the entire site and then build from the ground up. I'm sure there will be a lot of ground and foundation work involved.

As far as access goes, traffic from I-10 EB and Carrollton have direct access to the site via the Howard Ave exit. Uptown, Westbank and Pontchartrain Expressway traffic can get directly to it via Earhart

I wonder if they might build out a street to connect directly to Earhart. It would have to cross some RR tracks, but I don't think they get much use these days.

Also looks like Wisznia's co-living project in the Warehouse district is moving forward with IDB tax break approval.

The mayor tweeted out renderings of it yesterday that I hadn't seen before: https://twitter.com/MayorLandrieu/st...25896093708288

If not a return to a regular theater, I wonder if something like a Cirque du Soleil show might work there? I always thought we could use a few Vegas style attractions like that to bring some diversity (and also indoor activities) to the tourism offerings. I think the state still has some generous tax credits for performing arts venues and productions.

He said was sort of art related ... whatever that means but seemed to say not a theatre so i would think that would preclude cirque ... he never denied a madame tussauds when i mentioned it though just the mushroom venue ... i know he cant say anything but just want to know if progress is still on track

Since the hard rock hotel is across the street i could have seen them doing a deal together to host shows there but i doubt thats happening

Another added benefit of this project is from the drawings, it will pave the area under the Broad St. overpass into a usable parking lot. Right now that area is dumpsters and trash and overgrown weeds.

True its sort of a road parking lot now so this in and of itself will improve the access to there
