It would actually disappoint me if the WSO moved to the Pantages. Centennial Hall's acoustics are very good, and their seats are comfortable. Pantages would be a downgrade on both.

They (WSO) have already been managing the place for the city since around 2010 so they may be able to make it a little more profitable if its their own building. The WSO would not move the performances over there to Pantages as its about 900 +/- seats smaller and as you say the acoustics are not set up for them.

WSO would always do it’s main performances at the concert hall. Pantages would be their home, offices and a permanent facility to do new things. A school, new music festival, Christmas performances, public outreach, recording. Being a tenant at the mercy of a landlord makes it difficult for them to do many of the things they would like to.

If the WSO bought Pantages, would they consider expanding the facility to the east? Is this a step in the Centennial Centre Master Plan or has nothing to do with that?

There were renderings put out 5+ years ago for a big expansion of Pantages by WSO, in the "plaza" area fronting Main Street.

Anyone know if 62M is ever going to finish the landscaping underneath the building? It looks like an absolute dump.

My only argument to the above is, how does that have anything to do with the architect? It is the developer that builds and finishes the project.

Definitely ultimately on the developer Biff, but IIRC all these projects had different developers, and the issues at BGBX and 62M seem to be heavily design-related. Not sure how they expect plants and trees to grow under the spaceship lol.

I believe that You Cube, 62M and BGBX all had the same developer - Greenseed Development Corp. My guess is these guys like cutting edge designs that 546... provides but does not the funds to finish the project properly.

Leaving the underside of 62M in the same condition as it was when the last construction vehicle left has nothing to do with a tree being able to grow in the shade of a UFO. You can very easily pave the lot, plant nice bushes and rock work and complete the project. Money seems to be the issue on these projects....it runs out. Nothing to do with the design.

Looks like CentreVenture is finally getting ready to market the Duncan arena site for redevelopment. Property Committee has a proposal to close the public lane in advance of CV issuing the RFP for redevelopment of the south half of that block. So many memories of great shows there in the late 80's early 90's - my favourite was probably Doughboys from Montreal.

Back side of BGBX Condos - St Matthews and Wall. The idea is that it is in an industrial neighborhood, across from industrial businesses. The backside looks warehousey, the inside is kind of cool.

My issue is that it is not just across from industrial businesses; there is a residential building directly north that faces the street and has trees lining the street. https://www.google.ca/maps/place/St+...!4d-97.1824419 Had BGBX done that as well that could have been two nice properties next to each other. It seems they chose to feed off the industrial character of Wall as opposed to the residential that surrounds it. Directly behind it is a residential neighbourhood https://www.google.ca/maps/place/St+...!4d-97.1824419.

I think the developer chose to go with a novel design and could market the building as having a private or quiet courtyard (won't be anymore quiet that close to wall, realistically) but ultimately the streetscape was totally destroyed.

13th Hour Tattoo on Notre Dame @ Adelaide is closing... it's been there for years. Owner said business dropped off when all the construction for the Calvary Temple parking lot was happening, and never really picked back up. Isn't blaming it specifically, but said that spot is now in a "dead zone" between the parking lot and Hydro station.

Feel bad for Aldo – he's gonna be stuck all alone there.
