Media, PA

Media is a small town that is the seat of Delaware County. Many people in Delaware County work in Philadelphia, and the county is a suburb of Philadelphia, but Media is not just any suburb that popped up along an Interstate. Media is actually a borough that is very dense and walkable. The population of Media is around 5500, and the population of Delaware County is around 550,000.

These pictures are from last January. I showed them on SSC last year but never on here.

Media Presbyterian Church on Baltimore Street.

Stores on State Street, which is the commercial center of the borough.

The side of the Delaware County Courthouse, with a statue to Pennsylvanians who were killed in action.

Some stores and houses on Front Street.

The Delaware County Courthouse.

More stores on State Street. The SEPTA trolley line runs down the street towards Philadelphia.

Some rowhouses on State Street on the east side of the borough.

Very nice photos and town.

Media is my second most favorite town in the area behind West Chester.

Media, West Chester, Jenkintown, Doylestown will always remain special as 100% of the new growth in this area is the cookie cutter strip malls, mcmansions and this latest fad are these town centers. I just want to bang my head against the wall if I see another Borders,Old Navy,Starbucks combo strip mall.

Featured in the documentary, "Manufacturing Consent - Noam Chomsky and the Media." Highly recommended! Thanks for the photos.

What is cool about Media is that they still have such a viable business district with the Granite Run Mall sitting about 2 miles west of town and the Springfield Mall and it's adjacent shopping centers just 1 mile or so east of town. The malls didn't kill the town.
