Oh yeah, they do. Tomorrow morning, there will be 2 'Transat aircraft at the airport at the same time.

On December 31st, there were three Sunwing '737-800s at the terminal at one. (Amongst others.)

Our airport ended the year with a bang. Lol!

If there are any aircraft watchers in the Regina area, there are two Air Transats (A310/B737-800) and three Sunwing B737-800s here (amongst others) as we speak. People are definitely heading south from the Queen City!!! ( . . despite our sub-$70 dollar.)

VERY busy airport today!!!

I know what you're saying in losing the morning service as it's timed pretty good to get into Vancouver and have a full day there before taking the late night flight home. But again, just a reduction in frequency, not seats.
Looks like YXE is moving back to 2x daily frequency to YVR - but on a Q400!!! 2 hr 45 mins travel time from YXE - YVR.

YXE departures @ 7:30 and 18:30
YVR departures @ 13:35 and 20:35

Looks to start last week of January.

Regina's shifting to CRA (CRJ-705) on Air Canada Express. Not as nice as an E90, but much nicer than a CRJ-200.

Service shifts in early April. YQR departures at 8:20 and 16:45; YVR departures at 12:00 and 21:00.

I'd take a CRA any day over a Q400!

That aircraft is a Vickers 953 Vanguard. TCA had 23 of them. (50 Viscounts.) They served between 1961 to November of '71. (Merchantmen flights 'til May of '72.) It was powered via four, 5545 shp Rolls Royce Tyne turboprops. She was 124 feet long.

This [postcard] photo would have been taken no later than 1962. (Probably '61.)

Data is via memory only; Google would have more data. ☺

I've only been on the Q400 twice (YYZ-YFC and back) but I didn't mind it. It was quiet (and I was at the front, which is where it's loudest) and it was comfortable. Far nicer than a CRJ-200.

I'd prefer the CRA, too, but I won't whine if I have to fly a Q400.

Well, if nothing else a bunch of people scored themselves some amazing deals on WestJet as a result of all this.

Probably YQR's most exciting visitor (1987) Air France Concorde with President Mitterrand aboard.

^ That is phenomenal! Was it a technical stop or was Mitterand in town for a visit?

I remember that, but not the particulars. According to this he met with the premier and visited a farm.
