Hopefully the city sticks to their guns on drive-thrus in pedestrian neighbourhoods.

As reported in the Free Press today George's Burgers & a chiropractor on McPhillips on the Superstore property have been evicted by Choice Properties. I wonder who is taking those spots that they would just throw them out after all these years?

From the Shindico website it doesn't even look like the have tenants for the spots. Also interesting to see they want to build a pad site at the opposite corner of the lot.

I know there’s engineers bidding on construction for that site right now. I also heard the name Costco tossed out in the same convo. Not sure if those two were related.

Costco building there has been a rumour for probably a decade or more. Anything your hearing more than just the standard rumour that’s been floating around?

Their website indicates the location is opening soon, no date
That would explain the big purple signage where the old Rogers Video was.

Re George's on McPhillips. There is definitely something bigger at play here, almost is if that whole strip mall is about the disappear. It was previously reported the Goodlife in the same strip mall had closed. Considering there is another Goodlife not far away in Garden City Shopping Centre and a Fit 4 Less in Northgate it wasn't really big news.

The other piece is that it is a bit of a puzzle what might take over the space that would warrant evicting the current tenants. In terms of the Weston family portfolio the one that could make sense is T&T but my understanding was they had stopped opening free standing locations and would be integrating the product line into their other stores, as we have seen locally.

^^^I’m pretty sure a Snap fitness is taking over that former GoodLife location (Mcphillips-Superstore) and a Mary Browns will take over the George’s Burger location and Chiropractors office.

Costco has already done due diligence on land in west St. Paul, being river dale west and the shops of west St. Paul. They are definitely going into west St. Paul.

There is that planned retail development on the north Perimeter with 2x100,000 sq ft retailers. Granted Costco tries to run in the 150,000 sq ft range but as the development is to be built I am sure if Costco came calling wanting to anchor it they could make adjustments.

Just seems like a really weird spot for Costco... or any retail for that matter. Mind you, they are developing the entire area West of the Perimeter to McPhillips "Riverdale West" and the new residential development on the northeast parcel of Main and the Perimeter. http://www.redriverplanning.com/weststpaul_middlechurch

Just bought a lot and building a new house in the trails of west St. Paul, ie the new area on river at main and perimeter. There is huge commercial projects going in now that water and sewer are available.
