They actually pulled off the mixed facades quite well.

'Topping out' ceremony marks milestone in Little Caesars HQ construction
By TYLER CLIFFORD. Crain's Detroit. May 23, 2017.

"Let's lift that beam," called out Anthony Ramos of Ironworkers Local 25 on Tuesday morning to a crowd gathered along Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit.

Within minutes, a white structural beam, signed in orange marker by dozens of ironworkers wearing orange shirts, was hoisted and put in place during the "topping out" ceremony for the $150 million Little Caesars world headquarters expansion project next to the Fox Theatre. A traditional evergreen tree, American flag and not-so-traditional Little Caesars mascot ornament were also hoisted with the beam.

The ceremony marked the completion of the 234,000-square-foot building's steel structure.

....

he next visible milestone will be to enclose the building, said Larry Brinker Jr., president of Detroit-based developer Brinker-Christman JV. That will include installing the the 14-foot pizza-shaped glass on the east, north and west sides of the building, which Brinker said would begin around September or October.

Each of the building's nine stories is 16 feet tall, project superintendent Jared Thorner said. The 130-foot bridge, which will connect the headquarter's sixth floor across Columbia Street to the Fox Theatre's seventh floor, will run slightly downhill because the Little Caesars building will be taller than the theater, he said.

Brinker said the bridge will be one of the final construction activities.

For some reason I thought the 'pizza' shaped portions of glazing were only going to be on the Woodward façade. Maybe I'm thinking of older renderings.

Yeah it looks like the pizza shaped pieces of glass on the front are going to be at differing angles while perhaps on the side more of a flat X shaped piece i guess were getting different perspectives on the pizza slice haha. Not sure either bout the rendering but that does appear to be what they look like they're doing.

The pizza slices will only be on the Woodward side. The crosses on the Columbia Street side are just structural support braces. The glass on the Columbia Street side is flat.

That's what I thought also. So, did the Crain's article get it wrong? It claims

It's inaccurate. Basically, the east, north, and west sides of the building will have a glass facade, but only the east side (Woodward) will have the pizza shaped facade. The south side of the building will basically be a blank wall since it faces an alleyway with other buildings.

Some of the elements of the buildings seem like a homage to Mid-Century Modern designs.

Four long vacant buildings owned by the Ilitch family will be redeveloped as a part of their grand ambitions to overhaul 50 blocks of the city that will be anchored by the new Little Caesars Arena.

The four historic buildings, along with two new structures, was described as the largest residential development in the city in over two decades. The six developments add up to 686 residential units, with 139 of those units reserved for “affordable housing.”

“We are keeping the best of our history, while we build the rest of our future,” said Mayor Mike Duggan at the Friday announcement.

Looks like all but the south side of the arena complex has the windows put in place.

Little Caesars Arena design draws from Montreal, boasts largest scoreboard in NHL
June 13, 2017. BY DANA AFANA. MLive Detroit.

In a tour of the under-construction Little Caesars Arena on Monday, Olympia Entertainment CEO Tom Wilson told reporters part of the design inspiration comes from Montreal.

"Montreal was the most intimidating place in all of hockey," Wilson said, referring to the Bell Centre, where it can feel as if fans are hanging over the ice.

A lowered mesh ceiling grid at the new home of the Detroit Red Wings and Pistons offers fans a more intimate feeling, and a tightness in the bowl by bringing the roof down for fans in the gondola seats, Wlison said.

In other arenas, ceilings seem to "go on forever," he said.

Another feature that will set the $800-plus million Little Caesars Arena apart: A giant scoreboard.

"It's the largest scoreboard in the NHL," Wilson said, at 44 feet on all sides.

The Edmonton Oilers' Rogers Place currently boasts the biggest scoreboard, at 46 feet wide, 36 feet high and 46 feet deep.

.....

The lower bowl at Little Caesars Arena holds 9,000 seats, compared to 6,000 at the Joe Louis Arena.

The Via concourse, which sits on the upper level of the building, was inspired by the High Line in New York. The inside is wrapped in a jewel skin made of aluminum, where the game will be projected fans to watch.

What does it matter? 99% of the people will never see it outside of the blimp shots anyways, as far as I am concerned they could put a large butt up there and it would have no bearing on my life.
