Sky harbor is a higher elevation than downtown, but not by much.

Exactly which is why I can't figure out why the FAA's determination that 397' is the max for Block 23? I mean it's moot at this point since we are obviously not going taller than 17 stories, but I can't help feel Phoenix is getting pinched a little when it comes to height limits set by the FAA. By them setting up Block 23 for 397' as the max, that leaves little room for anywhere in Downtown to go over 500'.

The elevation of downtown is 1083' give or take.

But you're a bit late to the party...those height zone maps are almost 10 years old.

Phoenix has decided that an airport operating safely and unencumbered is worth a lot more to their economy than a building over 500', especially when practically nothing scrapes against the height limits. I agree with them.

Phoenix isn't San Diego or even San Jose where the height limit is a problem.

The Block 23 developers will probably get a temporary waiver for the crane. AFAICT, the height zones are for permanent obstructions, eg, buildings.

Haha, yea. Not going to look very tall at that angle...even though it's not really going to be very tall to begin with

It was probably up, but not posted as public by the developer. I found the cam on cityscape.com and it wasn't there last week. Glad to see IT. Just another cam for me to check every day to see dirt moved from location A to location B

Agreed, I often check the Oxblue camera at night and it looks like they are working a night shift. Is that common?

I drive by a couple of nights a week around 9:00 and there is work going on. By contrast, no work at that time at Stewart.

When Cityscape was built they worked at night. I wonder if that is due to the need to remove so much dirt and cement debris? It is easier for trucks to drive in and out without traffic concerns.
