Looks like the Exchange Tower (built in the 60s or 70s) has had an exterior renovation. It originally had a concrete facade but it's glass now.

It looks good but... I liked the original look of the tower, and, now with all the other new glass towers in London, I feel there will be too much glass, and if this tower was still concrete it would have helped with the diversity of architecture. Oh well!

Skyline Timelapse Video

While walking around Regents Park, I stumbled upon Primrose Hill. Having 1 hr to kill, I decided to shoot this timelapse of the Central London skyline as seen here: http://youtu.be/L6QcTifEuEs

This was my 7th time in London. Each trip brings this majestic city closer to my heart...

Central London Skyline Video

The London Exchange and the Shard Buildings are looking great! They will be perfect additions to an already beautiful skyline. I visited Regents Park back in October 2012 and created this video highlighting the Central London Skyline: http://youtu.be/HVBGfpQPFPE

The view is from Primrose Hill. Please watch in 1080p HD to get the full visual

Ah, a fellow Londoner in SLC, I occasionally make some suitably ill informed comment on the state of Salt Lake's development process, but good to know there's another London bod out there.

London has no shortage of 60's concrete blocks, either. Less in the City of course, but there's always the Barbican!

Work is ongoing to transform the Olympic Park into legacy mode; which was at the core of London’s winning bid back in 2005, and is in stark contrast to previous hosts who not only lacked a legacy plan but have ended up with underutilised venues and desolate wastelands (e.g. Athens and Beijing).

Whilst most of the Olympic Park (now renamed the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park) is currently a construction site, there have been various concerts (on the site of the former Basketball Arena) and sports events (an athletics meeting was held last weekend), with further sporting events planned including Rugby World Cup matches in 2015.

Ongoing works are split into three areas:
(i) The removal of the spectator zones, temporary pavilions, security cordons, roads, temporary bridges and payments, planting of more trees and plants, erection of legacy infrastructure such as the grade separated mountain bike track, gradual opening of the park to the public, etc...
(ii) Conversion of the athlete’s village apartments for sale & rent to the public, and further construction works on new residential and commercial units (e.g. the site of the Basketball Arena), including several high-rises and a giant ski dome, etc...
(iii) Removal of all temporary facilities (Hockey Arena, Basketball Arena, Waterpolo Arena, etc...) and downsizing of permanent facilities to legacy mode.

Aquatics Centre
The temporary ‘wings’ have long disappeared, allowing for the legacy mode glazing to be installed.

Olympic Stadium
This hosted an athletics meeting last weekend, and could host another in 2015 along with planned Rugby Wold Cup matches. Conversion to a mixed-use stadium is ongoing, with retractable stands (for football mode) an extended roof and realigned floodlights set to be complete by 2016.

There is actually a map illustrating what parts of the park are open and a website: http://queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk

What's being removed? It's not Leadenhall Market, is it?

No, Leadenhall is the name of the street, but Leadenhall Market (a protected structure) is due further west by Lloyds of London. The development essentially demolishes various post-war buildings of little merit and will include the restoration of a listed building (19-21 Billiter Street).

When I have some free time I’ll do an updated summary of projects in London; there is an unprecedented amount of high-rises in the pipeline, but the big business is at giant redevelopment areas such as Nine Elms, Stratford, Greenwich Peninsula, Kings Cross, etc…

Edit, might as well include this; Hertsmere Tower: 242m residential tower for Canary Wharf being developed by Ryan Corporation, with target opening of 2018. Would surpass the present tallest residential tower in the UK (the recently completed 181m St George’s Tower; which you may recall was the tower hit by the helicopter a few months back) by over 60m and even surpass One Canada Square which was for a long period the tallest skyscraper in the UK until the Shard went up.

Thanks, the new leadenhall one reminds me of the Rockefeller, I wish it was as tall as the Rockefeller as it might look a bit fat at 154m, still it's a nice development and along with the u/c lime square tower will help fill the gap between the walkie talkie tower and the rest of the cluster, now 122 leadenhall and 20 fenchurch nearly finished, it will be good to see this, the scalpel, heron plaza and 100 bishopsgate rising together, and with the other towers going up nearby at blackfriars and shoreditch, this cluster will look amazing, I'm still fuss appointed about the pinnacle thoe, have t heard anything about the redesign fir a while, it will go up but they are in danger of missing this property cycle if they don't act soon, the foundations, basements and seven floors of core are allready up, so when they restart it will start rising straight away, I just wish they would hurry up

Nito, what do you think of the new hertsemere tower, I like the height but the design looks a bit dull, it looks like riverside south, I like all these residential towers but canary wharf has always been mostly about office towers, I hope they keep that ratio as I think office towers look more impressive than residential towers, but at least these residential towers are tall so I'm still happy
