Mirabella from 17 stories up

Here are some shots from our balcony. These pictures were taken on May 5th. A lot has happened since then and I'll post updates from time to time if anyone is interested. I also posted one that shows the park for perspective. Now I just need a camera that can fit the whole lot into the frame or I need to move to a higher floor!

It's great to have someone, with a camera, so close to the construction zone...especially since the live cam is no longer. Thanks!

More Mirabella shots as of 5-20-08

Since those last pictures I posted are two weeks old, I thought I would post a few more that I took today. I'm also posting a link to a YouTube video. I hope it works! I also wanted to mention that I love Bambuza and Le Hana! Both are great places to eat in the neighborhood. It has been very exciting living down here and watching all the towers go up around us. Enjoy.

Ditto. While I generally dislike projects that cater only to exceedingly wealthy individuals, I think South Waterfront really needs to reach critical mass to be successful. It takes more than a handful of buildings to make a successful neighborhood and I'd prefer urban wealthy people to suburban wealthy people.

I like projects that cater to higher income demographics because the tend to be a lot nicer than projects for poor people. There, I said it. Now everyone can hate me.

Mirabella Update

Here is an update on the Mirabella from the 17th floor! They have gotten pretty serious about digging this past week.

Does anyone know if they are digging all the way down like at first and main or doing top-down construction like at most of the sowa towers?

Mirabella Update 6-14-08

Okay, one more picture. This time I used Autostitch to get the whole block in one picture.

Cronked, thanks for the progress photos of Mirabella, my future home. I live too far away to see it first hand. Someday your balcony will be quiet again.

Welcome to the forum, Artist. It's nice to hear from more people who actually plan to call the projects we discuss here home. I too wish to send a big thanks out to all those who post the pictures... all are enjoyed.

Mirabella and Water

So I check out construction on the Mirabella every day. In the last few days I noticed they are starting to deal with some water issues. I don't think this is unusual since we are so close to the river and I have seen other projects work with water down here before. My question is, what the heck do they do when they hit water? Do we have any experts on here? I took a little video that shows them pumping water from one location and it goes into this tank and then out of the tank to another location. Does anyone know what they are doing here? I'm just curious. Most of the construction I have watched has made sense up to this point. The link to the video is below:

They have to de-water the site. It's expensive.

Then they have to design the garage to be flooded and water resistant at the same time. As is the Strand Condos/ New Riverplace Public parking garage.

At the First and Main site it filled with water this winter. They brought in a giant hose to the bottom of the hole that lead up to a block long, on street, set of tanks and trailers.
