It is a little complicated due to a long term tenant in the already constructed podium that needs to move out, demo back to structure and then go up.

Oh, and a 250,000sqft tenant or so.

Either way, it looks to have some traction. This would be a skyline changer.

The building design, or the chance of getting built, or both?

BOTH

In my humble opinion it is going to be one of the best tower designs in recent years.

As for it moving forward, they are actively marketing it behind the scenes and with a few RFPs out there for 300-400k it very well could be going in 2014/15.

I like it! however I do have a soft spot for the old Manulife 2 design, including the prospect of another downtown hotel, which obviously won't happen if this version gets built...

Right, but there are hotel plans for the KR building and the Arena district as well.

Motion of support with conditions. Administrative walk-on required.
• The Committee fully appreciates the effort that the proponent has put towards sculpting and enhancing the top of the tower in order to ensure that it contributes positively to Edmonton’s skyline. The Committee does not support the inclusion of the ability to incorporate building signage within the curved portions of the tower façade.
• Provide a detailed exterior signage and lighting package.
• Provide a detailed landscape plan that includes all proposed public realm improvements associated with the structure. This includes paving materials, finishes, colour, and pattern.
