So here is what I wasted half an evening on tonight.. I was thinking throughout the day about phone cameras, and how I really never use mine. However, as much as I LOVE my dSLR (I sometimes think I'm dating it), I don't have it with me 24/7.. So while I was at work, I was looking at apps / ways to maximize the potential of my phone camera. I came across an app (Android) called
Camera FV-5. It's 4 bucks, and it gives you a wide range of settings (Shutter speed, ISO, Metering, etc..). That's not really what sold me because there are a lot of free apps that do that. What sold me was the ability to shoot PNG's, aka RAW, uncompressed photos.
My phone is an LG Optimus G equipped with a 13 Megapixel sensor fixed at f/2.8. Honestly it sucks, especially with the stock camera app. This afternoon, I took Camera FV-5 out for a test drive, shot all PNG files, ran them through Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments, etc and was absolutely pleased and fascinated with the results.
TL;DR - dSLR & I have a steamy love for each other, can't have it with me 24/7, app on Android phone shoots uncompressed photos, ran through Adobe, results are great.
TL;DR TL;DR - RAW photos, Android Phone, Awesome.
