I wonder if Iggy will write off the NHL this year in search of another Olympic Gold...

Iggy has wrote off the last five years in search of Stanley silver. If only I had a had screenshot of Freeweed's post of when Sundin left the Leafs his last year.

That has matured into a fine vintage at this point.

Last year his numbers weren't great but he spent most of the year on a terrible Colorado team. The years prior he was still 20+ goals, 50+ points which is damn decent. If you extrapolate his numbers for last year when he got traded to LA he was on a 20+ goal pace. Basically he's still got some game and on a decent team can do some damage.

Dude is still very strong too, he can dominate down low, and he still has one of the best one-timers in the league. The downside is he is quite slow now.

^bingo. Great strategic player, but a bit of a liability on the backend.

Signing Iggy would be more of a character / leadership type move than to bolster the offence, he would contribute no doubt, but he will be as much of a liability defensively...

If you were looking to add a 'seasoned' old guy to your team for a little extra scoring punch and leadership, wouldn't you just go with Jagr over Iginla at this point?

I would have said Shane Doan but he retired and he's not an option anymore. Loved that guy and his leadership and character. One of the good guys off the ice too.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Iggy.

So the pre-season starts this Saturday with the Cannucks against the Kings. And just over 3 weeks until the regular season! Can't wait for this year.

Been watching the prospects tournament between the 4 western Canadian teams, pretty good hockey! Spencer Foo is already dominating!

Most excited I've been for hockey to start in probably 10 years. I'm sure Oilers an maybe some Calgary fans feel the same way.

The prospect tournament's been pretty fun to watch. Feel like I'll probably end up going to a fair number of Marlies games this year.

The Flames tightened up their D and improved the goaltending situation. If the offense can pick up where they left off last season, we should compete for the division crown, definitely excited.

I'm still wondering if the Flames will sign one of Iggy or Jagr with their 5 million in cap space. Or will they just let the young guys compete for the available forward slots?

Should be a good year as long as Smith is at least average and Hamonic and Brody have good chemistry.

I'm actually interested in hockey this year after a long time of just watching the occasional game. It's great that there will be some Canadian teams in both ends of the country that will be able to challenge...so much more interesting.

2019 or 2020, Edm-Tor final with Edmonton winning in 6.
