Uptown is a narrow section of Pittsburgh, located east of Downtown, and running out to Oakland. The main streets are Fifth, and Forbes Ave. There are three basic parts to Uptown. Uptown proper, which is between Forbes and Colwell, and runs from Sixth Avenue, Downtown; out to Jumonville. The section south of Forbes Ave., is refered to as "The Bluff", as it overlooks the Monongahela River from about 200 feet up. The Bluff is home to two major institutions, Duquesne University, and Mercy Hospital. The third section, which runs from Jumonville, east to Oakland, is called Soho. Uptown once had a fairly strong identity, but is now very much considered to be a subsection of the Hill District.

As we move up into the Hill proper, we see that suburbia has invaded right next to Downtown.
These are more appropriate for this area, though they should be spaced closer together.
Webster Avenue has (had) the best overall collection of houses on the Hill.
New infill frames what is the most impressive row of houses remaining on the Hill. Sadly, most of these are in deplorable shape, and there seems to be no plans to preserve them.
