I am quite sure there is no Shaw house in Parkhill so none of this is relevant to this thread.
I am bad. Your right, it is in Mount Royal now that I think about it. the rest of what I said was accurate though.

fascinating to have the Titanic connection, thanks for telling us about it.

I am drawing a blank as to what the house that used to be here looked like.
The future house will have a great view north straight down 2 St SW through downtown to Crescent Heights NW.

The house to the left is newer, not new construction, just getting the facade replaced.

If you had Shaw, I would suggest watching Shameless as it is FREE on Shaw Video on Demand and it is great TV! I don't know what Telus has.

Sturgess spiral house

Hi I'm back for a couple of weeks and was over gawking at this house so I thought I should do an update. There are often pedestrians and vehicles stopped to have a look.

this house at the end of 2 Street SW, has unobstructed views looking west and south. the Elbow river and pathway is across the street and down the hill.

this house has been stalled for a couple of years, but there are new contractor signs on the fence and it looks like there has been some activity.

There are at least 3 more houses beginning construction in Parkhill which I'll add pics of when there is something to see.

2 new inner city houses worth looking at that I know of are the steel frame house going up on the Elbow river in Roxboro,
and the house on Marquette Street
that was built using a small crane and features geothermal heating and other cool stuff.

I'm so glad someone captured this behemoth! I saw it a couple months ago and immediately thought of what everyone on the forum would think. That thing is a piece of sci-fi wizardry if you ask me!

It looks to me like the contractors haven't used a plumb-line or a T-Square anywhere on the building

Further proof that money can't buy taste.

Great shots! Parkhill is really one of the best communities in Calgary. I miss driving through there on a weekend wishing I had a larger bank account

I doubt you'd know a t-square if it hit you in the face. By your comments, you certainly don't know what one is used for.

A t-square is what drywallers use for scoring sheets on straight cuts. By the time a t-square is on site, the structure is already erect.
A framing carpenter uses a framing square, or most likely a laser, as plumb bobs are susceptible to wind, especially on a ridge like where this house is built.

My apologies if you don't give a shit, and were just being snarky.

Spiral House

My landlord was telling me that he got to go on a tour of the inside of the house! He said it is surprisingly small. The kitchen is on the view (west) side with very small windows.
What I thought was the entrance on the north side is actually the entrance to an open air courtyard in the middle of the house. There is one bedroom on the second floor in front and then there are 2 bedrooms at the back over the double garage.

I'd love to see the floorplan of that house. I wonder how I can....
